It's just BMT for goodness sake. Soldiers are dying in Iraq by the hundreds, being shot at in Fallujah and going out on patrol every day thinking it could be their last.
It's just freaking soften-ed BMT. If you have issues, go see a doctor or something.
That's all I have to say. There are legal ways to get a better life in NS. AWOL is not one of them. -

Now I am in OCS , and I am having a good time even those harsh punishment, I still feel proud even if my dignity is stepped on. I push my way thought the hellish BMT I was in, and also have thots of AWOL and GENG MC. But Still, manage to pull thru and get to OCS. But as a trainee, I always look upwards with the attitude of surpass my commanders who once humiliate me, not because of getting back to them in later life, but to provide better life to my future man.
Please Do not do such foolish act, as I have been such a fool to realise that now. Turn back now , it is not too late. Take it like a man, and finished your military training, and I will salut to you depite the rank wise in the future.

No doubt he's wrong in AWOL but I believes that he might have some psychological problems towards NS?
We don't understand what was in his mind since we are not him. -

Now i don't think its just pure irrational fear that got hold of TS. It wld be harsh to just continue piling the blame, or impose on him our own judgements based on how we would react being in the similar situation (which then again is only often based on our own NS experiences)
My guess is that the TS suffers from social anxiety problems... which in this particular scenario may involve having intense fear of being evaluated, and being potentially embarrased by others. This fear brings about much mental and physical discomfort to the TS, therefore inhibiting his normal social behaviour. Normal social behaviour would in this situation be the various tasks he would have to perform in NS. His recursive thoughts of being humiliated, though often inaccurate and self-defeating, would bring about panic attacks such as (most commonly) heart pulpitations, blushing, stammering, nausea....and in his case 'breaking out into cold sweat'. To simply avoid the whole trauma of being at the mercy of his panic symptoms (which can be really severe) and to avoid being really humiliated in the NS, he chose to shy away from everything altogether. This final act is called social avoidance.
To attribute this completely to not being man enough or being too pampered would be plain oversimplication and ignorance on our part.
While whether or not TS's scenario actually took place is contentious, I do affirm that it is possible for somebody with social anxiety to take such a route.
But above all I think the issue here would be to what extent would MINDEF hold psychological disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorders, tourette's syndrome, social anxiety disorders, depression, or even just simple phobias etc, in similar regard as tangible medical injuries/illnesses? One argument would be that diagnosis of psychological disorders can be subjective as their effects vary according to circumstances. But it is also possible to suggest that there is still not much awareness of such psychological disorders yet, at least within our community. Any ideas guys?

When I booked out yesterday,I was so bloody happy but before I know it,time to book in liao.
Today whole day very sianz coz know gonna book in at night.

Bo pian still have to book in so I dressed up,packed my stuff and went to the MRT station.
Long journey from Clementi to Pasir Ris,halfway on the journey,I got chills again when I thought of going back to camp.
What happened next is beyond me,I alighted at Redhill,went to the toilet and changed to my civilian clothes(which is inside my bag)
Then I just took the next bus I saw and took it all the way till the end.I ended up at Bedok interchange.
I missed my book in timing liao.So my camp called me,but I just ignored the calls...I just walked around aimlessly...
They called me repeatedly and I ignored all the calls...
I thought of going back but then I got stage fright again when I think of the sgts scolding me...
So now I am at a cybercafe...I not going home either
Tonight is my first night without a bed to sleep
I dont know how la..
