Am i a failure in my career?

  Do u all think that a 29 yo earning 3k per month and on contract basis with the company is a failure. I see most of my peers getting more than 3k liao n are mostly managers above liao leh . Haiz eveytime i sent out my resume only contract offers only. Or those perm job offer only 2.5k nia haiz... Is there such a big difference b/w contract and perm position that i have to take such a pay cut?

  29 earning 3k is good enough.
  
  the older you are, the higher your pay is, the lower your education is, the higher your chances are when it comes to retrenchment or when companies merges.

  I have to agree, you are a failure only when you think you are one... I am sure you know of Colonel Sanders from KFC.... he only became a success at the age of 66.

  I think you have to state your qualifications than can access better. And also the industry. I am currently earning like $1.4k LESS than my peers. And at one point ...yes I felt like a failure. How am I ever going to ever buy my own condo / own a car. But heck care....different work hours and stress = different pay mah.
  
  If you are not happy with your current situation, than find a new perm job bah. Contract job (me too) gives a person a sense of insecurity. But these days even perm job the boss can just sack u anytime lor

  most jobs now hire on contract basis. go for the interview, ask about possibilities in turning perm if u take the job.

  You are only a failure in your career if you do not gain any satisfaction from it.

  U have an urge to upgrade urself...this is positive energy...
  most pple here are only contented with 1.5-1.8 cause they haven really started working yet..

  29 with 3K is ok wat. But maybe you just don't enjoy your job much. I guess unless you are earning huge bucks, if you are bored by your job, everything won't seem to be enough. I'm earning like 2-3K less than many of my friends but I enjoy my job so I really don't mind. Also, my friends earning that much really have no life, work like 14 hrs a day and on weekends too... so much money also no time to spend or enjoy it...
  
  But really, do be thankful that at least you have a stable paying job. So many graduates out there struggling to find a job these days...

  I have a guy friend earning $7K, 28 yr old.
  Another guy $6K, 26 yr old.
  Another guy, studied engineering but went into finance, $4K 28 yr old.
  
  That's all.
  
  All other friends earn less than 3K.
  
  BUT yes, you are a failure.
  
  With all due respect to all other forumers, (understand they are trying to make u feel better) their advice are useless. Always only compare yourself and compete with the people who are better than you, be it financially, family, spritually etc. True, it will make you feel bad (like a failure). You will have 2 and only 2 options.
  
  1. Do your best to better yourself.

  Hey, gentleman, at yr age you are earning reasonably well already. There are still many guys out there same age as you don't even earn this much. Came across this guy at 40 seeking for partner and he indicated that he earns $2100. So, be contented and strive for excellence in your career you will earn better than your peers.
