I was a clerk + tech spec. As a clerk, ISO & MEA(for log units) or PATS(for manpower branch ppl) are some important things you must look out for, and any other daily tasks like reports (if any).
Write down your tasks and take notes. It helps to avoid forgetfulness and the tekan session that will happen everytime you forget something etc.. -
army sux... it made me further hate tis f**king country.. to tink i have to suffer for another dunno 10 ICTs or watever sh** tt is.. can't wait to leave...
90% of the regulars r useless ppl who noes only how to sleep n go geylang n bet soccer... push all work to nsfs...
worst r those nsfs (esp those officers) who tink juz becoz they got some f**king ranks.. they can go tekan ppl of lower ranks just to satisfy their perverse minds...

but one thing about army is that it's a very very memorable experience.....until now, i still can't forgot those days after 2 years already.....but the thing is that after you've gotten over your GF problem and have stayed in your camp for more than 9 months, then you gain Lao-Jiao status and will have power over the new recruits and you will be more or less on par with the lower-ranking regulars(3SG to 1SG) already.

reservist is bad........it's like, you adapt to normal civilian life and now they want you to go back and serve again......whoa....KNN sian loh.
but for those of you currently in NS, don't take it too seriously.
remember the motto: SERVE AND FARK OFF.

i always had some ligament problem at my knee, is it ok to go have the operation during my ns? think can get mc lots lots! haha

I'm beginning to detect a trend in this kind of threads where people complain that NS has ruined their lives, they can't cope, stuff like that...
Most of the people here just go "thousands of young men have gone through it, they've had it much worse, be thankful you have a slack vocation, blah blah"
So if i'm a combatant, it's okay for me to say that the army sucks?
All your freedom taken from you at the age of 18...some people just can't adapt. And those that do, usually end up numb, or jaded. Like me.
I signed up because i thought the army was the last workplace on Earth that "politics" existed, and boy was i wrong. Some people will sacrifice friends just to climb to the next higher rank. Some are so God damned LOBO, i don't know how they managed to climb so high.
Brotherhood? Camaraderie? Esprit-de-corps? In times of war, maybe. Peacetime?
Who gives a damn?
Make no mistake, i love this job. It's some of the people in the organization that really f*ck it up for the rest of us.

When i ORD, i was like so over the moon, we have no choice so we lan lan have to serve have to serve.
Thats why its called National Service! Singapore win Thailand today in a kelong match, even the referee have to listen to the gah men! haha -

Haiz.. all i can say is.. NS isnt tough.. u juz have to pick urself up. Be strong.. Everything tt happens in ur life has a reason.. it's a learning lesson. Grow from the experience.. dun get humbled by it.
People used to say NS is the transition from boy to man. So.. start behaving like a man n stop bawling over trivial matters.
NS is nothing. That particular girl is not worth ur time n attention. U are better tt that.

different ppl haf diff aspirations... ppl who love ns r not wrong, ppl who hate ns r not wrong either... it's how diff ppl see things... some ppl say ns defend ur c'try defend ur loved ones, a man must be patriotic n fulfill responsibilities, others say ns defend the govt, the state n those in power...
some ppl say ns not xiong (which i find surprising n wonder wat they do in ns) , others say ns sipeh xiong... diff ppl got diff limits(physical, emotional, psychological)... if u r strong(in watever sense,watever aspect), try to understd the 'weaker' ones, they mayb ppl u c struggling during routemarch, ippt, or those who cannot cope with mental stress or politics... diff ppl face diff probs... n no doubt ns is a low period for many, any external probs can make things worse...
shld try to help them n not scold them whiner or watever...
ppl who r 'patriotic' shld understd those who seem not to be so, why they complain... esp those who haf been thru it can easily look back n say ns is nothing, but our minds r forgetful towards unpleasant experiences... so u may not be able to understd wat other present NSFs r facing...

After reading all this, I really Thankful that I was posted to a good unit and life was pretty uneventful. Never, had to chiong sua there, never had to clear SoC. Even for IPPT everyone is trying to help you pass. Had great colleagues and although my place was a mainly regular unit, I never had to suffer their politics.
Ord lo.
Even now, if they ask me for reservist, I wouldn't mind too much as long as its not too soon in my career.
The first few months in NS is definitely the hardest. Most people get depressed, demoralised and jaded. I was too.
All I can say is that it does get better as the days go by. After you know your buddies well, life can be quite interesting. Nobody ever said NS is fun except for some girls or gays who have not been through NS. -

dis is my point of view...
1st advice, the most impt one which will sub link to my next few advices... is to read in the SAF Forum under BOOKS AND COMICS, STORIES FORUM, title of story is A LOVE STORY BY = K =
read dis story and u'll know alot of reasonin to let u know wat K and his ex is goin thru b4.
2nd advice, many couples break up durin ns is bcos their rs is not to the lvl where the girl will wait for the guy or dat the guy feels dat few days no contact will lose out to other guys. if ur love is strong enuf, there's patience in it. since she broke up with u, dat goes to show dat ur rs is not strong enuf. dis is the truth, sad but true.
3rd advice, keep ur mind occupied so dat u won't tink so much.
4th advice, think abt the ppl goin outfield, perspiring their balls off and wearing the same undies for a few days, feeding mosquitoes and all while u're stress in ur office. imagine they too have the same problem as u but they are outside while u r in ur office.
5th advice, money always cn earn, u're gettin allowance, not pay, food and drink is provided, so dun complain. if u tink cookhouse food is not gd enuf, tink abt last time when army personnel is the cook n u lan lan have to eat.
6th advice, dun tok abt the government, u nv know who's readin dis thread.
7th advice, if u really wana forget dis girl, u cn always tink abt the negative side of her. but i tink after readin dat story in saf forum, u'll tink otherwise.
To all... those dat has bgr problems or not and in NS nw, i recommend dat u go read the story in the saf forum.
