We educate youths not to get involved with pre-marital sex because there will be risk of them regretting for the rest of their lives.
But still HIVs, STDs and other issues continues to stay.
This is a fad. There will be others after this cutting incidents. Hopefully, it'll be something milder and not so silly. -

Most people do learn to ditch that penknife for piercing or tattoos.
Like cigarettes...some people gives up smoking. Some just smokes but they are lousy no idea how to smoke it smokers.
Its a fad when they are doing it because their friends are doing it. So they do it together as a fashion statement. Or they do it trying to make their own statements.

People does that because they want to generate attention to themself.
When you are sardonic and respond instead with indifference & a good single sentence that makes them pay attention to how they will lose that attention. These gals will stop.
from the: "Oh, you got scars on your hands. accident or cut yourself?"
to the: "Well, too bad then, with those scars, you can never be a actress, air stewardess, model or even employed for most high flying jobs liao. Too bad, considering you look so pretty and can go far in any industries".
Works everytime.....except to those that is already dead.

you think that it's easy for someone to repeatedly slice a blade across their wrists/arms? i once tried, but didn't have the courage to do it more than once.

So you tried cutting yourself. What was your rational in doing it? To divert some attention? Or so that no one will pay notice to you and leave you alone? -
I dont believe in cutting myself.
Why, because I have family members that practise the:
1 Cry, 2 Shout, 3 hang themself stunts.
And for serious cutting, I rather go to a professional tattoo artist or a doctor.
And for another, I seen how ugly most persons look like when they wanted to win any arguements.
By cutting themself. Such people win, not by their real win, but by evoking sympathy, fear & panic.
I even had folks that comes to me, with a plaster on their wrist to tell me they cut themselves....and the whole sad story about how they were arguing and how despair they are.
In the end, they were using that to make use of people.
And I've seen those that was really sick, in pain, with needles sticking into them everywhere...yet they make the effort to be cheerful. -
And oh....i just remember something.
For gals who loves to cut themself.
They are strongly recommended to try riding a motorcycles.
It gets better cos bikers will get burns, cuts, abrasions, lacerations, breaking bones and so on. there is so much more to boast about then miserly keloids on any part of the body. -
The severity of reasons why people cut themselves varies.
Mainly, reasons and motivation behind could be deeper than we thought.
These unknowns are worth exploring, as to why they need attention.
They cut themselves because of attention. I agree generally.
But why do they need attention? Surely wanting attention isn't the end of explaination.
