  than you have to be firm yet take a soft approach.

  it's okay to tell her straight, but if she does something stupid after him telling her straight in the face than he'll feel guilty - charged imprisonment, no gf for at least 1-2yrs due to this horrifying experience if it's handled the wrong way.
  
  i've seen a ex-schoolmate of mine pestering a guy during school hours when we were all in assembly etc, the story is somehow similar to what his story as per in this thread, than subsequently, after the gal got some conselling, than she got better and recovered.
  
  love problems sometimes cannot have this 'one shot one kill' method - the same trick does not work on all gals, as each gal in unique in their experience and reaction.
