[b]No offense for my following post.
Yes, only in your opinion.
But that's only one side of the picture?
When you state that you don't think the children will curse their real biological parents.
How do you know?
They won't 'curse' their biological parents, but we don't know what is going through their(children) thoughts.
Alot of assumptions to convince.
On last sentence;Like I mentioned earlier adopted children's quality of life is not any worse than us. Especially when those parents who adopted a child is probably very willing to have a child (maybe they aren't able to give birth). It is Not a insignificant issue when compared to abortion.
We are just shifting the weight of consequences through focus on discouraging abortion and downplaying the possiblities of damages thereafter.
All issues, from pre-birth stage to adulthood, have to be discussed and looked at carefully and responsibly.
I respect that this is your opinion.
Please understand that this issue will lead to many moral and social problems in a long run.
So we have to look at both the value of life and social decline.
Since you're a Buddhist, I shall try to explain it in a more related way?Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Pls understand this is very subjective and MOST people actually would choose to live rather than die. Of course, some minority people suffer from suicidal thoughts and has little motivation to live, this could even be due to psychiatric problems or suffering from clinical depression and can be treated or counselled, or for other reasons that are often 'short term', but this has nothing to do with being an adopted child.
Even if they question why they are born, most will still rather be born and alive if given a choice. And certainly do not wish to be killed.
It does not take one to have knowledge to not want to die, to fear death and want to live. And of course, even babies or foetuses feel pain.Originally posted by Devil1976:Since you're a Buddhist, I shall try to explain it in a more related way?
Before one is born and hence not much relative experience except sensations and hearing of sound.. One's thought is likely to be equivalent to 'null' or also known as a stage often tried to be achieved by Buddhism known as 'kong'. Hence, it's unlikely and quite meaningless to debate on exactly what is their 'will' because we won't know their birth environment for sure and their own expectation of it. And either would we know if they'll grow up to be 'good' citizens...
Yes. I agree that it's all subjective. And I think we're really going out of topic here.
If you're looking at such idealisitic view.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Like I mentioned earlier adopted children's quality of life is not any worse than us. Especially when those parents who adopted a child is probably very willing to have a child (maybe they aren't able to give birth).
