There's no should or should not when it comes to a couple's intimacy. However, u're putting it as though it's to be a routine that is to be done after customary marriage.
From what u said, i can also sense your insecurity in your marriage. You're even probably having phobia for intimacy with your husband.
You might not realise it, but you've been using others as a shield, like customary marriage, your mother instead of saying for example "I wanted it to be a special moment on our customary wedding night"
