thats really noble of u..
but then if wat TS said was true, dun u think its rather dumb to base ur defense on that mr koh can read students mind against racist allegations?
DUDE, the issue here is not about the word "gang" la please.Originally posted by TealTack:I too am a student of JJC,
Our principal did use the word "Gang", but i believe that he did not meant it as intended. After his speech, one of the teachers talked to our class. She was supportive of Mr Koh instead of being ashame or infuriated. She felt that what the principal was doing was just trying to bring across the message of disbanding groups that are non-productive or could possibly affect the students' studies.
One reason why he mentioned the indian group "in that corner" is because there were two retainees who were there. They flouted most of the rules in the school and were keeping long hair/moustaches/beards ect.
One of them had actually owed money due to the Soccer World Cup, and the principal graciously loaned him amounts up to the hundreds so he could focus on his studies and his A'Levels. But he ended up failing his A'levels instead and became a retainee.
Therefore, i believed that the principal specially picked out this group as he felt that it would affect the indian students' studies if they had picked up bad habits. Also because of their personal relation between one of the retainee and the principal, i believe the principal had more attention on this group.
Next would be his habit of walking into classes and catching students. That i would disagree with, because it interrupts the teacher's lessons. But i do question whether teachers actually do catch students for inappropriate haircuts/facial hair ect. Even my teacher turns a blind eye to our class. So what makes you think that without his intervention, the male students in our school would keep neat and short hair, and to display a good image for our school?
DUDE! This is not on the topic of intelligence whatsoever. You justifying his intelligence is already out of point. As i said in my previous post, this is the issue of him(the principal) ISOLATING a RACIAL group.Originally posted by jinyidakiddo:im not saying he can read minds or anything, nor am i defending him. in fact what he said that day was quite controversial to the college (stunned looks everywhere, including me). this thread is pretty much bout TS's views on principal, so just my 1 cent views on my past encounter with him.
perhaps its not right to justify that he's intelligent with such a minor example. though many of us think we can, its not really easy to come up with a question to stump someone in 2 seconds. well if you believe you can do it as well then i've nothing to say. im just saying that there may be some things we can learn from the principal.
