How can I help him to stop smoking?

  Don't think getting the nicotine gum for him is a good idea now as he does not have the intentions to quit somking himself. Otherwise he might chew on the gums and smoke at the same time and that'll make things worst.
  
  You should try to convience him to quit on his own first, find out whats his reason for smoking ? Chances are because he has friends that smoke and he finds it cool. Its a stupid reason but its usually how kids start smoking.
  
  Don't use a demanding tone, talk to him, present him with the facts that smoking harms his health.

  On top of my plan ar, maybe you can add on some sobbing , and facial expression that show that you're not feeling soo well after that puff.. Something like going to faint~ Finally end the whole plan with a hug~

  He sometimes encourages me to smoke, saying that if a couple smoke together will become closer blah blah blah. Then if I take the first puff, he will be so happy la! If I act sick, then he will say "nvm, come I teach you how to smoke properly." By then, I will jump off the building.

  Nope, I don't have any relatives who smoke. His dad smoked for more than 30years and quitted some years ago. Nth happened to his dad..
