Ya, may be I should just try to respect his decision. I tried respecting that before and kept quiet about this habit of his for a few weeks. But after that I couldn't take it and started nagging again.
It is natural to start nagging again. But try to keep it to the minimum and focus more on finding ways to help him quit smoking. -

In other words, it is more important to be friends than to ensure that he quits.
Anyway there is a drug legalised in Europe that "helps" with addiction. It is not yet approved in the US because there are some indication that while effective, the drug cause some people to become depressive. So the US want sto look at more data first. -
