I'd advise you to adopt a weight gaining diet plan - for a start if you have got some budget. Hit the stores and get some weight gainers. Those drinks are high in protein (and calories) and you can expect to put on weight in a month if you follow it religiously.
Avoid heavy cardio activities and hit the gym for weight training - you would want to gain muscle mass, not just fats (muscle is heavier than fats anyway). I used to be a long distance runner, and it was hard putting on weight then.
