Increasing stress for students

Hais .... been feeling the uprising stress recently . Must get good results etc ..
But thats not the only stress students are facing . Students suffer peer pressure as well and constant piling up of homework . Even holidays are exempted from them (My cousin who is Sec 4 this year , only had a 5 days holiday during the Junes Holiday.)
I just went to the Singapore Polytechnic open house ytd . Found out that i must get 20 points then i can get into Mechanical Engineering , 12 for Aerospace .

who places the stress on the students?
i've seen some done by the schools.. heck, it wasn't like in the past where they just allowed you to do whatever subject you choose.. i ended up with 4 A-levels... but i think recently, schools force you to drop the subject you are not 'good at' even when you have a keen interest in it...
i've seen too much stress by the parents who insist on comparing with others, making their child go for endless tuition sessions, piling them with unnecessary crap...
i've seen the ministry of education put undue stresses on the children.. stupid policies, stupider things like 'ranking' of schools and 'quantifying' their work as if making the school get awards will make for better students..
i've seen students themselves, caught up in the rat-race driving themselves to study and goodness knows what... turning themselves and selling away their childhoods for a piece of paper... -

Singapore have 4 polytechnics... It doesnt make much diff which poly u get into... No need to be Singapore polytechnic -

and sp is good...chio bus and good food -
currently if u get a L1R5 of more than 25 -- this means that u can onli go for the less popular courses in poly la. but i guess few more yrs later be nid to hav abt less than 20 for all courses lor. btw poly issnt as easy as b4 liao.

i think that few yrs ago the stress on students was worse. Now i feel its easier but students are more spoilt.

this week got poly open house?
anyway, students gets stress due to increasing competition i guess.. lecturers dont force students that much anymore..
and for mc engg.. heard u got to compete with elite ITE students -
Lan lan suck thumb. It's life! We can go on debating about this and it won't change.

Hmm not necessarily SP , other polys also can . But Mechanical Engineering studies is a must . My passion mahs.
Thats why in bus i study mostly of their technical specs instead of deployments. -
i think schools emphasize too much on academic ratings on paper. students should have the choice on their educational pathways based on more than simply results, like interest for example. worst crap is when they grow up, they might end up bringing this practice to the next generation.
NA students also get sidelined alot, especially in the eyes of older generations. i can't forget how someone at workplace put down all NA students as people who do not study and play all the time, in explicit reference to the school girl who drowned some time back.
there is no respect to such discrimination. -

Seriously, this is a society problem which should prove to be with quite a high price to pay.... -
I dun see the need to compare with other people.
Everyone is unique and have different capabilities.
Some people are smart, they juz need to study once while u may need to read and re-read 3 times before u understand the concept. But with hard work, overcoming that is not difficult.
The biggest challenger is always yourself. You study not for ur parents, or to compete with ur friends, or to enter some stupid 'branded' schools.
You study for yourself and your own future.
