So here's my situation.

Like to hear the opinions of everyone here.
I had went for 2 different interviews so far. Tomorrow a 3rd different one. The gone case one I mentioned is the second one lah.
So now the first one called back already, offer job to me. Reply back by next week. Pay a bit on the low side (if I compared with that eh, SMU survey or whatever) But it's in my acceptable range for my current needs etc lah. Location-wise also acceptable lah. (Not say like from West to East etc)
The situation with me so far is that basically I know nuts. I have no knowledge of anything and everything. This includes the possible job scope of my job offer. (Frankly, I'm very surprised they call me for interview and offer me. So yes, I'm jumping for joy.)
Those who know me know my degree is a general one. So I am not trained in any specific area. So I'm in the state of willing to accept anything as it comes, yet one side of me hopes to get the best offer around though it may not possible.
So now the questions:
i)How to handle the situation?
ii)For my 3rd interview tomorrow, shall I let the interviewers know my job offer? For the info, I have no personal preferences over all 3 that I have gone to and will be going to so far. So, nothing much to decide based on interest.

The answer I had gave me the impression that there was that there might not be a lot of opportunities for advancement etc.

let the interviewer know that you are wanted by another company.. see whether they will offer more $.
totally new thing to u? dun have to worry.. i also got into a line that i know nuts abt.. at first struggled.. made a lot of mistakes.. but LEARN from there.. now quite zai liao.. -
If u have substance, it is reasonable for one to demand...
if u dont have substance, it is ridiculous for one to demand...
But if u r interested in the third job, u may ask the interviewer on the chance on tat job and state the reason y the above question... Depends on how the interviewer reply u ... u can dig further...
There is nothing wrong for u to ask the hr the quitting procedure or job scope before u sign the employment letter... It is yr right to noe...
For big companies, before first 6 months of employment, u can resign the company without a month notice... hmmm... if I remember correctly... so no worries... Try yr best on the third job interview... -

i)What are the differences between a permanent and contract position, other than the fact that for a contract one, your contract may not be renewed when the time's up?
ii)Beside the usual stuff like salary, benefits like medical/dental care, leaves, notice period? What else to look out for in the letter of appointment? (or employment or whatever they call it) Will I get to keep a copy of the letter?

judging from your first 2 interviews which you pretty much stumbled around. I think it is better if you work on how to get the job, for now. fake it until u get it. google is your best friend. show them that you're the right cadidate, impress them, prove your worth.

I recalled stumbled quite a bit for that and they gave me an offer... -
1) Permanent is better cos you get all the benefits like medical, dental, leave etc. Contract a bit risky cos if economy not good, u are first to go.Originally posted by CoolMyth:Got some questions here:

2) Ya, u will get a letter- mostly state your pay & benefits.
First job, just take anything interesting. Pay a bit lower never mind. Gain some experience, then can jobhop. Better to get into estab. firms like MNC, banks- better benefits & perks. Also better for your cv. -

Thanks in advance. ur contract must read carefully.. sekali like my sister one.... co can terminate u 1 day notice. u resign need 2 weeks

1 thing you should take note of is there any bond ? if so how long ? and how much will you need to pay the company in event that you wish to leave the company before the bond is up. -
but basically appointment letter is jus to let u know the employer's authority to make u work OT w/o xtra allowances (if u r gettin exec. salary), their workin hrs, their rights (to dismiss u, to promote u if passed ur probabtion, etc).
as an employee.. u jus had to see the appointment letter, memorise how long to give notice for resignation, previledges, stated appointment role, the salary stated or is any any increment upon confirmation etc..
in short.. understand the rules to break the rules..

3rd company shud tell them, but I'm not sure if u shud tell them which other company has accepted u, although I think u shudn't. Then they can expect how much time they have before releasing the results to u. And if they think u r worth it, they will offer u a higher pay to attract u...
Not that I have many interview experiences... and adding on to the fact that I'm still a student...
The main point is to push back a bit on the decision for the 1st company, and rush the results for the 3rd company. -
Well, general advice from people around me is that I shall not push the decision for the first company further back.
But yeah, think I screwed up my third interview. Kanna twisted around like a rubber band.
Looks like the decision's easy enough. I'll take it as an opportunity to gain some work experience lah. -
gain work exp 1st than after 1 or 2 yrs u can quit n look for companies with better prospect and pay...
