I'm not a research student. I work full-time at the university. The pay is low compared to what my friends get outside. The university doesn't pay well.Originally posted by MetalGear:on a serious note, u said u are a research student? So are u an undergraduate, or post-graduate doing research? Try your best to hang onto your studies.. Nothing beats a good education for solid backing...
For nite driving... This is tough job, u know all those main wet market distribution points which open in the early morning around 2-3am? its in Pasir pajang if i am not wrong. Its the place where market sellers get their supply of fish to sell from, ask the aunties and uncles where is the distribution point for where they get their fish. (for veg, its a diff wholesale point), confirmed they will tell u where it is cause they all get their fish mainly from 1 of the few wholesale distribution points. So definitely they would need drivers somewhere to send the goods to the markets... sure got job. but know the time, it starts at around 2-3am.. bloody tough job. but pay for drivers is definitely better as its the graveyard shift. Thanks for the idea. I will look up and see if any of the market stall people can link me up with anything for Fri and Sat nights.
Feel really sorry for u. u should know that u ain't suppose to give more food to others than what u need... Know u wanna help, but in the end, u still need to eat rite? And now, u bear their troubles and problems too. I hope my suggestion helps. But u are nuts to do it cause u would be working 24/7... u need to rest too rite? getting sick now would only make the situation worstl.... Best of luckSometimes, it's a call to duty. I couldn't just leave them there to fight it out on their own. And now I pay the price for helping too. I'm almost to the point of begging for help and charity, but I don't of anyone out there who would look upon me now with such favour. So I'm trying to struggle on.
Thanks. Do you I know you from any ICT? You mentioned that point.Originally posted by ah_tee:colin,

Yes, I know. So far, I have 5 confirmed students for 2003. I think that should help bring in some confirmed dollars for the repayment. If I get the 6th student, that'd be bonus.i feel all those labourious jobs like washin cars will not get u anywhere
for nite jobs, gd paying ones wont be at pubs, it be at large nitclubs, something like dynasty, as waiters
the tips r huge, had friend who worked at a niteclub n usually his tips is 60-100 nightly,
Sounds interesting. I've also thought of driving those shuttle services for hotels (will have to be mini-vans because of my class 3). I heard that the foreign guests sometimes tip quite a fair bit too after a ride.
[quote]i can onli help u this much, friend in camp, long time no contact also
you 're the saddest i've come across. never go to the service and yet uses their quotes. get a life and have your own stand.Originally posted by MetalGear:Oh no.... its not that i have a shallow perception of what churches.. i think u are the one with the shallow perception... i think its mainly these 3 protestant organisations which i dun really agree with how they carry out their work. Even pple who attend their service says so...
And if u actually think that my earlier msg was said literally... haha, its suppose to be ironic and sarcastic! Duh!!! Sorry.. protestant humor.. hehe!!

If you're still a student, enjoy your days as a student. Once you step out into the working world, it's a whole different ball game.Originally posted by ah_tee:nono, i wad i meant was, my friend who worked in the niteclub is in camp, n since been a long time since i met u,thus i cant get u details
if u interested in driving in the hotel line, i think the valet service might be a less than tiring job than the shuttle service

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL x infinityOriginally posted by MetalGear:church can help... hehe! in such bad times, only those protestant churches especially The church at the Rock Auditoritum in Suntec, City Harvest church, and the Faith Community Baptist Church. These 3 churches are the richest organisations in singapore. They sure have the money to help u. But whether they willing to part with their precious loot to help u abit is another.. hehe!
That's true. I did some other sums along the way too. The worst kind of liability I can think of while being in Singapore is to own a car. A HDB flat is still not so bad since it can be financed by CPF (20% of our pay is going to go in there anyway).Originally posted by Wo_Xiang_Xin:Good advice here - Try not to incurr any debt, especially those debt that does not generate income. Most young grads upon graduation take up huge loans for cars, house, shares, etc and suddenly find it difficult to service the loan - this is very true in this unpredictable mkt.
