There are plently of admin work around, with a dip you should be able to find it..
Don't know what u like to do is very normal. It takes even years to figure out what you want to do. Life is a continual adventure, gonna try out and not afraid to test water. With a diploma, you can continue to study for a degree, or try working in other fields for an experience.
In the mid-time, you can invest 5% of your time on upgrading yourself and making yourself a Recyclable asset. If you don't like your job, then it could be wise to invest 15% of your time in upgrading yourself. -

If you do not have the good grades then you have to find a job which who may not like cos without the good grades they will not offer you the job that you like.
STOP dreaming of the job that you like and start applying for the jobs that is willing to give you a chance.
I was like you once I wanted to go for my dream job, I tried and tried but due to average grades I could not get in. I had to go thru a different tougher way but it builts my character and experience. -

Damn, what i learn those days were like using 486 computers and 28kps modem.. that is worse man... Which poly are u from? If can major during the 3rd year i suggest u can go for micro electronics.. where u can do wafer fabrication..
PS: I've a friend in that industry and with a poly dip he earns around 3k+ with OT... so its not too bad...

I faced the same dilemma like you 2 years back.
That time, I really do not know what I want in
life. Originally, I plan to study computer engineering
but take up chemical and biomolecular engineering
after hearing a talk about it.
Like you, I also love to play computer games until
one of my friend introduced me to network marketing.
From there, I realized that I like business, investing
and went on to read many investing and business
books.
Hence, I recommend you to widen your social circle
by making new friends, go out with them to know
about them and attend talks and seminars. From
there, it will guide you towards a general direction
of what you wanna do in your life. -
hmmmm after reading the advices from you guys, guess all i can do now is just live life as per normal and don't think too much about the future. take things in my stride and i assume that after i ORD from NS i'm probaly supposed to just look for a job and get some working experience and try to figure out how to further improvise myself to pursue my 'dream job' supposing that i know what my 'dream job' is.
yea i placed wafer fabrication as my first choice of specialization but i got into wireless instead

One of my neighbour's daugther did EEE in poly, but after graduation, she ended up working in a retail outlet as a supervisor in Orchard area. Before completing Poly, she was already working PT at the GValue (now Shop & Save) as a cashier and then foreman and continue to do so 6 months after graduation. She said she was not so keen on engineering work and likely to remain in retail as she found out she liked what she did as part timer very much, except for low pay. She went for an interview at Changi Airport as a custom officer, but eventually she decided for her current job in Orchard because she doesn't like the shift work schedule

Know what you really like and set a goal to pursue it. How much time one have to spend working in a life time when you are doing what you don't enjoy. How many of you are doing job that you really don't enjoy and have to drag yourself to work almost everyday? Some time i think Singapore education has failed. -
really thank all who contributed and those who read. appreciated the advises guess its kinda late for me to plan to study harder since my poly days are ending
sometimes i really live to regret not studying hard. though my parents may have nagged at me since young to study hard and all but i just didn't listen and chose to get myself influenced by my peers. i lived to regret my actions.
anyway looking at the brighter side of things at least i know what i've done wrong and guess i'll be taking a different path from now. i'll go through my attachment and see how it goes. hopefully i'll be posted to do some office job as i really really wanna have a feel of how is office life like. -
Have you heard employers who don't even look at your cert and then employ the person? My friend attended his interview and his boss never even ask to look at his cert, and next he was recruited. I had that experience too, therefore i would say good grades is not the measure of everything.

And don't worry, money is not everything. There's a trend, the more money you earn, the more greedy you become, the more involved you will be in office politics, the more stressed you will become. Having a job paying about $2-$2.5k would be reasonable, since it is enough for you to live life comfortably and you will remain happy. (And play computer games! WoW cards require money marhh) Just don't ever do anything illegal for a quick buck! We all get judged in the end, life on Earth is just stage one

Hi Chris,
You have to understand yourself better, to know what you like, what you want to do in life. Takes time to find out. Try working on different environment to see how it goes.
I guess we're pretty much the same, im not sure what i want to do/be few years back. Then i wasted a few years, doin somethin i've no interest in and im very regretful. But now i know what i want to pursue in life, and trying to work towards it. Might be difficult tho. But with passion, perseverance and determination, i think nothin could hinder me to doin what i want. Haha~
For now, just complete your studies and after that, you could do what you want to do~ Decide for yourself, dont let others decide for you to do what you want to do in life. Thats what i did last time, i really regretted.

For me, i believe in passion. Might not apply in this place we're livin in but, it's just me. I'd rather do somethin i like but with low pay than to do somethin i've no interest in but high pay. Perhaps im very silly.

for fashion, if you have a fashion design diploma, you have more options.
i have friends who are now working for local designers. but working for local designers means have to do alot of saikang on top of daily work.
in terms of starting your own label, there's the easy way and the hard way.
hard way, work hard to build your collection of clothes.
easy way (i know alot of people who resort to this), sell backside. seriously. -

The future will fall into pieces and into place when the time arrived. Till then, do not bother putting all the pieces together like a puzzle, cos unlike a piece of puzzle, the future holds so many paths that ultimately in the end you will realised that you have been walking along the future that you have always wanted all along.
