Fear of driving, pls help me

If u are not very confident of driving. Best is to go school. Expensive but I think is worth it. School training is more comprehensive and they really care abt proficiency. If u take private,all they care abt is their earning and if u learn slow a bit,they will become impatient and scold u like mad. From what I see. It is not worth taking private if money is not an issue. I switch to school after attending the horrible private car tutor. i fear causing trouble to other road users.
i don't want to cause a jam on the road.
by the way this is only the second lesson i had, i am really scare of drving with so many cars, when ever that happens i just go blank.
can somebody give me advise or share similar experience with me ? how do i overcome it ? will more lessons cure ? -

This is only your 2nd lesson and you were put on the road? Think that's dangerous and in terms of training, not systematic.
If you have phobia and not a fast learner, I seconded that you enrol yourself in the school. Gain confidence while in the circuits before going out to the roads. If you enrol in schools, you have priority booking for the circuits over those privates. -
Look Uncle, you have to be sure of yourself, since u are scare of driving, you should not take up driving, it very dangerous and no safety you know, better to go home safe than to hv accident in the middle of the road. mrt and bus are slow, besides having a licence is another skill that can help me look for a job .

yes i am scare of drving, but i am trying hard to overcome it.
i love my family more than anything, i will ensure their's and other's safety. so don't worry me becoming a road hazard. -

this is my advice to you Good luck in your upcoming lessons -
i had another lesson today.
as i drove i kept my calm, slow and steady.
and at the end of the lesson my instructor ask what happen to me.
the car didn't stall
moving off was quick and neat.
gear change was smooth.
he patted me on my back and say u improved a lot, and warn me
seriously not to go and drive and practice using my fathers or anyone's car before i got a offical driving licence.

Remember those and u'll be fine:
- People generally care more about themselves on the roads, then mistakes a L plater make
- Everybody was a L plater once
- Lessons are for u to learn, not to stress over. As long as u learn valuable stuff, it doesn't matter if u fail.
- Practice makes perfect.. things get easier over time.. u will look back at this situation in the future and laugh at it.
- dun treat ur pracs like the end of the world

Well, it was in the year 2001 I took my first punge down a bungee platform. I was clinging to the pole, unwilling to jump. Till the very kind caucasian gentleman decided to boot me down on my butt with his foot. I flew and that became a moment to remember for the rest of my life.
If you don't take the first step and experience it to the max, you will always be in fear - not just for driving itself -
woot today i will have another lesson. Thanks to TS, haha i tot only i was the only one who stress over lessons, haha. The dumb comments and the good advise make me feel better as well.
Be calm, n ignore the "bad things", observe surrounding and your movements and mistakes; everything will be alright. -
some people learn driving faster than others. "talent" you can say, just like those young english footballers.
don't be afraid to make mistakes, it won't be the end of the world even if your car somehow stalls in the middle of junction and cause the biggest traffic hold up in the history of singapore.
anyway, try to learn from a driving school instead of a private instructor. you might be able to save money, but the failure rate is very very high, and you'll end up spending $150+ to book another test date, not to mention warm up drives before the test itself. Just how much can you save?
I'm 18, and I got my class 3 driving licence in the space of two months. i enrolled in SSDC on the 2nd of march this, started my first driving lesson the very next day, completed all 4 stages listed in the student handbook in 2 and a half weeks, passed my final theory in april, and got a test date on 16th may.
voila. spent just $1.7k, including all the theory tests + enrollment fees everything.
but be prepared to spend more if you're a slow learner. everybody's different. -

i too had my fair share of bad driving experiences when i was a learner.
i stalled in the middle of the eunos link/ubi ave 3/kaki bukit ave 1 junction!!!! the wheels went into a spin before the engine stalled. can imagine the screeching noises hahaha. from that day on, then i realise the importance of the biting point.
i passed w/in 2.5months frm my 1st lesson coz' my lessons were intensive since i wanted to pass before i enlisted.
can safely say that comfort driving ctr really trains you to drive in bad traffic conditions like jln eunos/eunos link. when i passed, i had no fear driving in orchard road/sgoon road and wherever traffic is heavy.
now i pass for 1yr 6mths already, my driving can say is fast yet safe. even my father, a taxi driver once, commended my driving saying that i can overtake and swerve in and out traffic well(coz' there were road-hoggers on the fast lane). near-misses/accidents aplenty but they were avoided well. you just have to watch out for yourself and your car. that's the main thing it is all about!
if need be, have more lessons close together. maybe your driving lessons are spaced far apart so driving is like not commonplace to you. frequent the lessons, make it close together.
okay goodluck. please do not road-hog and do signal. that's the main problem i see with our drivers. -

what kind of U-turn u doing ?? steering wheel turn full or 1/2 ?? just be4 u entering the position for turning , quickly turn ur steering wheel but for out of traffic incase u nd to stop. Once coast is clear, 1/2 clutch and accelerate off .. after turn once u tink that ur car is straight, quickly turn ur steering wheel back ... that should do the trick ... just praticse more ....
