Whether it is the next step, death or the next cycle, the end, the other side etc etc it is still the same. Words are created by man, so it is obvious that the word "death" was created, same goes to car, your name, my name, your nick etc etc..there is nothing to be genius about, without words, how can we communicate? How can i comprehend your typing or posting? With it, come the standard and the system of using it in a common way that all understand and able to reciprocate in return. If u insist in a sophiscated way of using the next step, so be it, but you cannot stop others from using death, in layman term.
After death is the unknown, and unknown become a mystery, a debate, a fear with lots of uncertainties, so it is not death that we fear, it is after death that bring a chill in us.
Lol...my "beef" with the usage of the word "death" had nothing to do with "sophistication" or that coming up with words are wrong.
I used the word "optimistic" which in turn meant that the use of the word "death" has soaked in so much negativity that it is about time to be replaced...with a new word...one which instead of aiding this "fear of the unknown" will help ease the fear and remove the negative direction that it veers toward right now.
My use of the "people who viewed the world to be square" being geniuses was an attempt to show how things have to change...mentalities have to change...we can't keep sticking to the old ways just because they have been around for ages....
In a way...i guess the word "death" is also one of the marketing points of the concept of religion....if people fear the unknown...they look for reassurance that the end isn't really the end...which aids "religion" in its never ending campaign to recruit, pearly gates and all.... =p
My personal belief (not to be forced upon any who have their own beliefs) is that when we die...we become energy...and that energy is recycled....joins a collective energy and recycles itself....in that moment of joining there is a collective conciousness that knows all...sees all through every person's individual experience...
When they said " and god made men in his image" this was early man's way of comprehending that we're just "extensions" of god...and in the end we rejoin him...with answers that he might or might not know...the more answers/experiences we collect in our lifetimes...the more the collective knows...and the cycle continues...renew...rebirth...regrowth....
This also brings to light the saying "knowledge is power".
I guess i would only fear that at the point of death, i havn't experienced enough to really contribute during the "rejoining"...but then again....i/me/we/us can always try again =p
