Reservist started in early November, the moment it ends, I am in China.
Lots envy me of travelling around, looking at the dragon economy, while I envy
them for the place they have, the friends they managed to keep in contact,

My circle of people is getting smaller and smaller, as I don't know who
to call or how to get people out. For a 26 year old, this is kinda loser
feeling. Neither do I have the courage to chat people up in pubs... <-LOSER!!!

So you leave frequently on long, lonely trips away from home and you leave your girl behind. What was the plan? For her to wait patiently for you and nobodyÂ’s going to ask her out? Even if they did, sheÂ’s not going to respond because she is faithful and youÂ’re going to try your very best to hold on to her for as long as you can?
Most people preach about finding an older girlfriend - someone independent and non-needy, a girl that understands your career needs. IMHO, it hasn’t much to do with the age. For any female, when their partner is a few thousand miles away all the time, memory weakens, insecurities set in. Especially in places like China, there are too many obstacles to overcome – it’s more than just communication dude because there is no need for brothels in China. They come knocking on your door (not so sure about how it works in Bahrain and Ethiopia).
You should have realized you were flirting with a heartbreak for her and for yourself before you took on a traveling job. Your best chances at making a relationship like this work is either get her tickets to go visit you or find her a job so she could be there by your side.
If you want to keep her around and keep things fuss free, just have a ball of a time whenever youÂ’re back in town, then continue hitting pubs and getting drunk overseas with your seniors, chat people up, go for Linkin Park concerts and keep your options open.

Back In SG since yesterday, will be gone on wednesday...
She actually asked me about my flight, turned up at arrival hall.
The only thing I could do was to send her back after that, which in
a way it felt very sweet to have someone waiting back home.
Jojo, I normally do not shout at people. Never at colleagues.
The only people I bark at is those who ask dumb questons, or seriously
bad management people.
If they do not understand certain part, and ask me to repeat, I am
more than willing. That's bcos it is part of my job to assist and
guide.
But if they ask dumb questions before they understand anything, I will
100% bark at them. Example of stupid questions, how come the colour of
the button is red, and why not maroon?
These people either have 0 knowledge, little or no way of thinking
or their common sense is not common.
Yes, customers are always right, but at a certain level of engineering,
asking such questions only riducule themselves. I once asked the fella,
you sure you are engineer? A little rude, a little not tactical, but
seriously, if I do not ridicule them, it will just be an evil cycle.
Natalie, I know what I am doing and what I wish to achieve in the next
5 years. I am getting there. But regarding love/relationship matters,
I am totally lost, confused and no idea.....
soleachip, I do not really like pubs or discos. Hurt my ears and
body. Last time when smoking was allowed, I hate it more! It's
better now, but would like a quiet ones like lounge.
To the rest, I am not sure how long the split will be.... Seeing her
yesterday makes me wanna patch back, but on the other hand, I need
time. Time to be learn to be a little more human, and less mechanical.

we broke up once because of this.. but after talking through and everything, we both have a better perspective and understanding of each other and our own commitments..
it's not that your gf doesn't understand, she just need you to talk to her and understand the potential consequences of everything.. she's the same age as me anyway.. -
Get engaged with her. The ring will act as a piece of mind for her.

I am someone who used to spend 75% of my time oversea. The issue here is not something so simple about just your travelling job.
So let just say - you quit your job, get a local job ... Well let assume that you have to do some overtime - is she again is unhappy with you not having time for her .... she go howling ... are you going to change your job again ?
If she going to howl you on time with her , what next ? she is going to howl on what you be able to give or not give to her ?
The real issue here is your gf. If you want a wife, you better off getting someone who is really understanding, and willing to make sacrifices to be with you. If every month , this thing if not that thing howl ..... !!! good luck to you. -

The moment I was back, within 48 hours, I was gone....
The sweetest thing happened though, she came to the airport, to check out
and see if I am ok or need help. Sent me off on my next flight.
I just got back at 10pm, lost a HP 6965 and 1 credit card. For the first time in
my life, I lost something so important... Mind you, it's not everyday nor fashion
of mine to lose things at all.
Technically, I lost my dear also.. So she was the most important part. Therefore
the first time should be her.....
She fetched me at the airport again today. I felt so sweet and warm. To have
someone who unconditionally loves me like that.
BUT!!!! Within 24 hours, or should I say 36, I need to F OFF from here and away I go.... AGAIN!!!!
This is really really tiring....
To those who think that working which requires lots of flight, think again.
Enjoy the weeks and happy holidays in advance. -

Digging up this thread again. I am alone in China AGAIN.
I have never felt so miserable or been so cruel to people before.
This time round, I guess it is all over.
New year's eve I was in Singapore, not wanting to meet her nor
talk to her.
For I know I do not wish to drag this anymore.
She was crying, feeling miserable. Desperate to see me.
Uncomfort by the thoughts of her in agony, I nearly relented. Until a
friend advise me, she has to go through it the hard way. If I give in,
this thing will just drag on only. This is damn painful for me, too hard
to swallow. I never been mean or had the intentions of being cruel
to her.
If you watch full metal alchemist, this statement is true.
If you are in pain, you can sleep.
If you inflict pain, you can never sleep.
The silence in the hotel room is deafening. So cold and silent, it would
kill...... Miserable feeling man.
I hope she picks herself up as fast as possible.
Alone in China again.
To those who are happy, please do stay that way.

My brother needs to travel a lot, and he misses his kids dearly.
Sometimes, when he calls back and goes on speaker for the family , we can hear his shaky voice.
When I talk to him privately, he cries.
