  The simplest way to find out your ancestry is to ask your elders lah.
  
  Or, you can start with your dialect clans/associations, they may keep records of family trees.
  
  In order for you to figure out your ancestry line, someone must be recording it lor.
  
  If not, then the next easiest way to determine if your offspring runs a high genetic birth defect risk is just go get that test done.
  
  In actual fact, those with very common surname runs a higher risk of marrying someone who is blood related.
  If you have so many family lines sharing the same surname you wouldn't know where to start. How can you be so sure your great grandfathers/mothers are not siblings ?
