^^ from other forums.I am sorry. The answer from what I know is yes. When animals are in pain or dying, their instinct is to hide so that predators won't sense their weaknesses and hurt them. It is a self protective instinct that concides with their death.
In all liklihood, the owner of indoor-outdoor cats will eventually face the sorrow of having a cat turn up missing. However, the chances are (for good or bad) that your cat did not run away. Cats are very territorial (even the neutered ones) and will defend their territory at all costs, and if driven out by another alpha cat who is bigger and meaner, will seek safety indoors (if allowed that option) before running off. The truth is that the chances are more likely that a cat has been unwillingly removed from the area, injured, or killed.

Pets are friends! They're not 'just' pets.
That cat was my friend, my soft toy, my source of comfort when I was sick or unhappy.
I am in total empathy with u & I would like to say a few lines as follows:Originally posted by MooKu:F........................... I restrain!

Did anyone feed or provide water for the cat while you were 'sick'?Originally posted by MooKu:I had this cat.
He disappeared over a year ago. But I can't get over it. I always believe he's still alive somewhere, but I just can't find him.
I loved him sooo much. He was the best pet I ever had. Cuddly cuddly, silly but brave. So many stray cats have come and gone in my backyard, but I just completely stopped being able to feel any sense of attachment to any of them.
It's already been a year plus, but I still end up in tears every time I think of him. And I feel extremely guilty about it, because if I didn't 'fall sick' last year, if I didn't neglect him for a few days, he would probably be still around. What if he's alive but has become a skinny, starving cat (he used to weigh 5kg)?
If he would come back home, I wouldn't mind giving up 50 years of my life.
I miss my cat so much and my heart aches so much. What should I do?![]()
I fed the cat and gave it water (or my mom would help me out)... but that's all I did...Originally posted by Stoat:Did anyone feed or provide water for the cat while you were 'sick'?![]()
