The boy is 12 years old. He will know what is wrong and what is right. What he did is no excuse. His parents are to be blamed as well and they should be shamed. -
I am no parent but I know what it is like to be bullied in school by 10-12 year old boys who should know better. And parents who don't listen until my hair got truly cut off and they saw a boy kick me down the steps of the bus (the highest point of 2 years of bullying). I agree that it's important to stop this sort of behaviour but scaring him into it won't do a thing because in his mind nothing has changed. He needs to be educated why it's wrong to do it and the consequences and implications of his actions.
If you just report it to the police he'd still think of doing the same thing but now is afraid because he might get caught. Rather than not wanting to do it anymore the only thing stopping him is the possibility of getting in trouble. Kids with that mindset will then find ways to avoid getting caught.
You should be responsible and not leave it to the police to do the parenting.
My father threatened police action on the boy's parents (the one who pushed me off the bus) - they literally gave him a damn good thrashing to appease my father. The boy bully and his group kept the HELL away from me after that.
If I had broken a bone , the case would be taken to the police immediately.
So do I want my child to go through this phase? Never. Ever. I want to my child to know that I believe her and I will support her . Not wait until something bad really happens. -

If the parents are relations, I will tell them first and see what punishment the boy get. If he gets a light punishment as in I don't see the bright red cane marks on his arms and legs. Basically if he cries and his parents and him apologises to my daughter , I consider the case closed if my daughter is happy. If not, to the police I go.
I give relations this type of option : punish your son and acknowledge the wrong did to my daughter. If not , police and I will make sure all the relatives with daughters will KNOW what your son did to mine.
If the court won't take on the case and yes likely the court won't , the police presence at his house will be enough to intimidate him into not repeating the behaviour again and act as a caution to his parents to control his behaviour. -

Dragging the police into the matter will no doubt frighten the boy, but it is not how it should be done. The parents should take the responsibility in teaching the child.
How many times have we heard parents in singapore go, "later police come and catch you"
What does it do to the child? Only frightens him. Parents should stand up and take responsibility instead of relying on third parties like the teachers or the police.
Seeking professional help may be the only more reasonable advice as someone stated earlier.

Boy committed a crime. Period.
Working with his parents - sure. I want him punished with corporal punishment by his parents. I also want his parents and him to apologise to my daughter. I will not give further concessions on that .
If they refuse my request , it will be the police and we will see if the police will charge because 14 year olds have been charged in Singapore for rape before.
The penal code for molestation includes caning as a punishment. Either his parents punish him, or in the future , the law will do it for them if the boy continues his rise to outraging a woman's modesty.
I am not going to let him off over some lousy excuse that he is a 12 year old.
If he is a 4 year old - I will consider the fact that he is a 4 year old and needs to be potty trained as well as behaviourally and socially trained. That I will not make a fuss out of it and I can talk to the parents without the expectation of the 4 year old being caned.
Fact remains : he is a 12 year old who should know better. -
Whether the boy committed the crime or not is not for you to decide.

12 year olds have been charged in Singapore before in juvenile courts but they cannot be named - however they do get probation . It is for the courts to decide if the boy knew better or not.
So really it is for the parents of the girl to decide if they want to push the case through or not.
The TS asked for advice - I am giving it. I am not about to encourage the development or establishment of criminal behaviour in this boy. -

By virtue of your logic : Hypothetically speaking - if your daughter gets molested but the molester gets away scot free - no crime has been committed? If A has killed someone - then it has to be reported to the police . Then it is up to the courts to decide if it is justifiable homicide (committed in self-defence) or murder.
There is no such thing as justifiable molestation as far as I am concerned.

By what you typed above, you seem to have the mentality that all those who go to court are already guilty. Don't forget, A might be innocent after all. Just by reading a few sentences typed out online, you get so worked up!

The judge will simply decide if he did molest her or not.
Assuming if the police decide to charge him in the first place!
There have been numerous cases where the police were forced to drop several assault cases due to lack of evidence in recent memory.
It isnt about i call the police, and he go to jail. It isnt as simple as that.
The police will decide if the boy is worth charging or not. But based on words alone. Highly unlikely.
What most of us are trying to say here is that dumping the issue to the police isnt the way to solve the problem.
Unfortunately you choose to argue whether the boy will be charged or not.

a sec 1 boy should know what is molesting all about already...
and a sec 1 boy should also know the consequences of molesting (going by the school rules)...

If i am not mistaken, i heard they were watching blue film the nite b4.. her dad one, a curious group of 4- 5 ppl watched together....oldest being sec 3 or 4.
Maybe tat made the young boy promted him to become horny or curious to try it out..
I'm so worried abt her...Next weekend, i also holding a christmas party at home for a few kids...I wonder how she will handle this matter...That boy is not going to be invited..
Guess i have to come out with alot of activities to make her forget abit.. maybe a cookie making session might do the trick....
