Its a culture,people in America/Europe move out when they reach 20s. But in most Asian countries,it dosen't happen. That usually happens when they are married if not they tend to stay. Look around you.My logic works by seeing stuff around me.
Btw this has nothing to do with America, I'm talking about almost the entire world from Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, Australia, Africa and almost friggin everywhere it's customary for the children to stop living with their parents once they reach a certain age. -

In fact, the parents do come in rather handy.
The problem starts when the guy lets his/her parent interfere too much in their relationship. -
I think some of the earlier posts mentioned that he might have used his mom as an excuse. I think it might be possible.
I often use my mom as an excuse, esp when I'm lazy to budge and am going to be late. I often hear some of my counterparts using such excuses too to get rid of some unwelcomed guests.
Examples are:-
I got to help my mom with some chores, I'll be late.
My mom quarrelled with me, sorry I'm late.
My mom cook already, I got to eat or else she'll flip. I be late.
My mom not feeling well. I got to accomp her awhile. I be late.
It's convenient.
Sometimes my mom overhears my conversation and scold me for using her as an excuse.
Hahaha.
Maybe when next time he says an excuse involving his mom, you try to confirm with his family? -
You might want to talk things out with him. Tell him that you are uncomfortable with him being too attached with his mom. Not that it is a bad thing but remind him that he's alr 24 yrs old and should be able to live freely and independently wihout involving his mom too much.
if he still doesn't listen or far worse, tell his mom after you told him how you feel, then dump this good-for-nothing mommy boy!

I have gotten quite sick of this... everything revolve around the bloody mum.. don't get it wrong.. i don't hate MUMS but for a mature 24 year old.. everthing mummy.. mummy here and there (SOrry.. seriously i just needed to fcuk my ranting here)

(P.S: killing his mum might be a good idea too)
but sometimes, he might be using his mum as the excuse.... cos he might be at home playing online games or other stuff.... so, he use his mum as the excuse to refrain from further explanation to u....
but, since u say, the appt time is 4.30pm but he reached around 7pm, means he dun even matters meeting u.... so, i feel, both of u should have a talk.....

actually , there is no good or bad to be a mummy boy...
but there is a different when the mummy come into the relationship with ur gf and make all the decision for the boy..
then the mother can be a bit controlling ... dun she care for the son
but a guy have to be independent and make his own decision and give security to the girl , I think that to a certain extent a guy can be a mummy's boy.
