How to get someone you love to quit smoking?

I've got people I love who are smokers, too.
But alas, it is their choice to smoke, ultimately, not ours.We can only offer our support to them.
Some suggestions:
- Maybe you can talk to her one day: sit down with her and tell her that you're not judging her or anything, but say that you worry about her health and that her smoking makes you afraid that she is compromising her health.
- Take it from your experiences. Say you smoke too, but you realise that you harming yourself will be hurting her as well, hence you want to quit for the both of you.
- Offer to quit together with her, and say that you'll be quit buddies and give each other emotional and moral support.
- Give her something to look forward to. Tell her that because you think this is a good idea to make you guys even closer by quitting together, that you are planning a surprise to celebrate the 10th week of quitting. Every week of being off the cigarette successfully, bring her out somewhere nice (no need to be somewhere pricey, but make it meaningful, fun or romantic) and tell her how much you appreciate her love and support.
I think the point is that you shouldn't try to be too hard or full on when it comes to making her quit or saying hurtful things like "You so smelly when you smoke" or "Smoking is wrong you know!", and try to offer understanding and support.
Ultimately it is her choice, but there are many ways you can help her to make that decision to quit.
Once you have quit, you will look back and think, why did I even bother to think twice before quitting? Its true!

There are many methods of quitting... all workable to a degree
But most imptly, if she doesn't want to, you can't force her to.
Maybe there are reasons to why she doesn't want to i.e. she doesn't want to quit because she doesn't like to conform, it's a form of temp relaxation, image, etc... But leave it to her.
Just to share with you, during my course with the hypnosis centre, we had a coursemate who was a heavy smoker and is more than qualified and equipped to remove his smoking habit. But he doesn't want to up, till today. So I asked him why. He said he just liked smoking. Amazingly enough, he is an excellent hypnosist and has helped people get over this habit.
My point is, the decision to quit lies with one ownself.

we made it our habit , if we try to quit with concentration on the target we can quit smoking very easly,
i was a big smoker , i use to smoke more then 20 cigrate per day,
i have quit smoking from last 17 days and i am feeling very healthy and fresh now.
smoking cigrate is foolish.

U love a person u accept who is she or he is. I smoke if my future gf wan mi to quit i will agree but hey no promises and if u think quarreling over is fun then forget bout being together in the first place.

She's already a smoker...just because you are quitting you expect her to do the same too? I know you are concern about her health but I guess your approach is wrong.

Simple - She ask you to buy ciggi for her , Means she doesnt have money to smoke or is just plain lazy to go below and buy , When u are a smoke and you dont have ciggi to smoke and you need to smoke , you will start to get irritated easily ,Next time
Next time , when she sms u asking to buy ciggi , Just dont reply (Act like u are a sleep)
If she calls to tell u to buy for her , Just say u are not free to buy and send to her (Just make up a family problem and say you cant leave home)
You as an ex smoker , should know this .... No one can stop you from smoking , only when you ,yourself decide to Stop , so no use begging her to , Let her quit herself , just be there to support her , when she , herself decide to quit.
Most probarly she was having a killer Running nose due to lack of nicotine in her blood , dat was why she was talking like dat to you.

So that means if you love your gf, you wouldn't care if she is addicted to this brand of milk for example, who is poisoned by lead and killing herself just because she is being stubborn?
Would you still love her when she's on her deathbed or with cancer? Could you bear to see your loved one putting themselves at risk? -

that is like the most common topic my friends quarrel with their boyfriends over. cuz they just wouldnt stop smoking. (they resort to lying sometimes) its no use, just worsens ur relationship. you cant make her stop, she will if she wants to.

being in love with a person, surely will want the best for that he/her.im a smoker myself, and had nvr thought of giving it up till now, it had been 5yrs since i started? lol. but nvr once i will think that quitters are losers, in fact, they are ppl who are smart enough to stop at least?
afterall, smoking still harms.
