ok la.. parenting isn't a black or white thing.
if ur kids grow up well, u've succeeded, if they end up in a coffin, or in jail, means u've screwed up somewhere.
every kid you have is like an arrow. one chance to hit only.

Take good care. Be very filial to your mom when you start working. Mothers are great.

i suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinions just as you say different parents have different opinions. hence everyone has their own set of values and how they tie in with their independence and the actions and decisions they make in time. personally, i do not have any curfew time. however, i do try to limit myself as to what time i come home.
freedom is often earnt, it will only be given by parents when you show that you have their trust. and i believe that is what zhlow needs to have.
also, please do not brand people without understanding them well enough, everyone has different opinions and this discussion is meant to be held in good nature.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
Well, neither do I have a curfew. In fact, I didnt have one since my early secondary school days. I believe that trust does not come with academic results, trust is earned by showing parents you can handle your responsibilities well.
Well, thats my personal opinion, no offence intended.
I think she cannot handle that u are a big boy now. That is no way to treat u. No human rights ! But then again, 18 yrs old is not very mature. Whatever u do, choose your friends properly. If u think your friends future is not very good, yours will be the same if you mix with them - well, usually..
Back to your mum, talk to her, introduce her to your friends. If she feels that u are mixing with good company, i'm sure she will relax

my mom expects me to be home at 10pm, if more thn that my phone will be ringing non stop. when i go out with frends, she will probe me for hell lot of times who am i going out with. recently, i was tellin her that after my prom nite i have post prom activites over at a pub or smth, she said i cant go.
i mean i dun get the rationale behind all this shit. if i am a 14 or 16 yr old kid well, that kind of treatment i still can try to accept. but i mean here i m a 18 year old guy, n there ur tryin to probe into my social life, i noe she cares abt me, but i believe this is just getting to restrictive. Im the only child btw, but come on, i nid to have frens isnt it? and its not that i go out every nite to party, just once in a ablue moon, even some of my female frens have that kind of freedom. i dun understand my parents, or maybe to be exact, my mom. she just wans to control everything. even the way i spent money, she will probe on what i spent on, check my wallet when im asleep( pretend), check my bag. etc. this i just way too much. i cant stand it animore.
guys i nid ur help, ani suggestion to get me out of this shit?
yes. u are in shit.... well if u dun mind, i think ur mother is BULL SHIT, just like my mom lol(atleast she's a little better than ur mom)
well.. if u dun wan her to control ur life at nothing more than a whim of hers, then just tell her "mama/yo momma/hey mommeh/etc., stop treating me like a small boy. im 18 u know? EIGHTEEN! i dun wan to stay single for the rest of my life, let me be... even the dam nerds at my age can go to prom night, stay outside till late at night. why cant i? i know who im mixing with, u cant judge them just because u are "experienced and wise(i dun think they are wiser than a 16 year old boy)" i judge my own friends, please give me the freedom of a 18 year old MAN"
if this doesnt work.. REBEL! REBEL my MAN! if u still get slapped and whacked till ur face look like bagua.. then just do wat u wan lor, let "yo momma" see that u have matured after escaping from the "evil womb(jkjk)" if still doesnt work. then i dunno.. lol
lol. suicide bombing always an option. jk
TS's mom is hard to handle, not the understanding type like 7-11. Seeing the dominant position she has at home, she's the type who always think she is right, not matter wat you say.
You can try talking to her out of it, but i doubt it'll be useful, she won't listen.
I don't think you can get any freedom until you start working in the society, cos her best weapon against you is the financial support.
you hav 2 options, either suck thumb and suffer, or REBEL gradually and subtly, if not u'll nver learn how to be independant
