I confronted him and he said only sometimes he did that as a joke.
However, how many 'sometimes' has accumulated?
If I did not 'discover' this, will he continue? I think he will.
Not that I don't trust him, in fact, I can just ignore this but it is so coincident that I 'caught' him 'red-handed. After that he said , he won't do it anymore.
Can a guy address an opposite sex friend with intimate nick over a period of time become a habit? Even if it is a 'sometimes' affair? What about the girl? Will she get used to it? If the nick calling stops, will both parties feel uneasy?
Guys, what is your take on this? If I am the unreasonable/over-reacting one, please advise me.
Well, I call my friends (be it guy or girl), dear, sweet, etc.. I think it depends on how you want that "nick" to be perceived to the recipient.
When 2 people have been friends for so long, calling the other party 'dear', 'darling', 'sweet' might not have that sort of 'feeling'. If anything were meant to happen, it would have happened.
Personally, I don't think 'dear', 'darling', 'sweet' are intimate nicks. So different people will view this differently. However, you might want to assess his friendship with the girl.
Just my 2cents worth.
i call my male or female friends Babe.
That person must at least not bad lookin also la.... or else i wont call.
Maybe just darling or honey.
Earthcosmic2: If he did that to just one person, there MIGHT be something.

If he did that to only 1 girl , then u must becareful .
Once i was with my ex, i had a best friend which we knew each other for 4 years (was the opp sex ) . My gf at 1st accept it , but later , she almost everyday kpkb about that girl and she even thought that we were having an affair -_-
Hehehe.. I call lots of my friends initimate nick names...

Come on.. you are thinking too much perhaps? I call all my female friends darlings/darls/babe/huns/sexy/hottie and whatever thing I can think off.. Its all in the trust between you and your bf.
