  What role would you like to play in her life now?

  You can continue what you are doing but i will suggest you don't go overboard with getting too close to her if you would like to stay as a good friend cos being too over might make her feel uneasy especially if shes still thinking of her ex. 

  Its fine to wait for her at times but maybe not all the time so that she still has some 'space' for her ownself. Messaging and chatting with her is fine since friends do that anyway.

  Study hard and do well for your exams. If she does care about you, she won't want her actions to affect your well being or your academic work.

  I mean giving her some space. Don't be always around her since it can get irritating at times to always see a guy everywhere u go like hes stalking or trying to observe your every movement.

  I got a female friend who had a guy do that and she feels rather uncomfortable and stress since the guy would often appear outside her class, sometimes even sitting in her class with her etc

  That is very noble of you...like a knight with shining armour....if you feel that you can be supportive in that way by all means but do not expect much from her.....if she does not reciprocate your love...do not blame her but yourself...if you can be a close friend to her without being hurt or judgemental I think that is cool ok. To make yourself more clearer of your position with her LmaO, you should ask her frankly whether she loves you or not or she likes you as a close friend...then you will know what I mean after that question is answered by her sincerely and truthfully..ok LmaO.
