Talk is cheap, why don't you DO what you have suggested?
TS
The gift of tongues is the least of the charismatic gifts. If you do not have it, accept it in faith.
TS, are u sure they are speaking in tongue and not praying in tongue?
Speaking in tongue and praying in tongue are 2 different things.
Speaking in tongue is god speaking to the people. This needs interpretation.
Praying in tongue is holy spirit intercessing prayers for christians to god. Pray in tongue no need interpretation.

A lot of people use these 2 terms interchangeably.
I think TS is referring to the second one, cos 2nd one is what takes place most of the time, with regard to tongues.

Pray in tongue is more common.
Even during the days I attended service, not every service there was message from God through tongue.

Not many can accept it.
ONe needs to be totally immersed in the holy spirit in order to be knowing what is going on.

Does your church practise it?
Just wanna share, as pointed out speaking and praying in tongues are very different not everyone recieves this gift from God and i for one can not speak in tongues.
to add another theory to this discussion, i heard that if one is a heavy thinker such as myself, that is if, its natural for yourself to need justification for speaking in an unknown language which you don understand, then this maybe one of the "barrier" which prevents you from letting the Holy Spirit "take over"??
or it could just simply mean u've not totally surrender yourself to God/Holy Spirit.
so don short change urself into thinking that ur not worthy, cos i believe God definitely did not short change you.

My simple message:
Amen to that.
When I see for eg a spouse/a mother, a boy being kind to another stranger/lving creature - regardless of the other's age or creed or ... the fragrance of godliness or God in action lar, the rituals , aiyoh - what to say?
Please, god does not demarcate, god does not exclude; man divides, man excludes

It does, and I've seen it in some other churches I visited, as well as some events.
In short, I seen it quite a few time already. =D

In the first pentacost when the first Christian recieve it, Their tongues is understandable as a language to people for different parts of asia as proclaiming the glory of God. Well it can be english/chinese/singlish for the matter in fact.
I heard from a 7th day adventist semiar that their evanglist spoke a tongue that they don't know to some tribe people somewhere to preach to them [it was a long time ago i forgot the places and stuff]. Similar to those in the first pentacost.
I heard NCC did a series on it and it is good.

Iv spoken in tongues and Im not really sure,
I dont even know if Iv gone that far as to speak a language, but when you recieve, I noticed when I do it throws off your speach, it's from the emotion you get from feeling the love and you can feel him enter your heart and it throws off your speach.
We dont know what we are saying, I think it mentions that in the Bible in Acts, the day of pentecost, they were different tribes and different nationalities all together, praying, when the Holy ghost came, they all spoke in another language and the people there were amazed as they could hear people speaking in there language, that they were'nt suppose to normally speak, so maybe others could notice, but the speaker I dont think knows, what language.
Iv also heard once that the Holy ghost can also have it's own language that speaks , so only God understands, so either way, it's a great feeling to recieve his love.
speaking in tongue is very agonising ah?
^ Hi laurence![]()
hahaha I guess some feel pressured , but it should'nt be that way should it? I dont know.
It is a wonderful gift though, I say this because, when you recieve his spirit in your heart, he never leaves you, whenever you go tghru something in life, like when you go thru the worst days of your life,
You can actually feel/hear a soft voice from your heart from him , saying,
"I am here, with you , I love you and be still know that I am God and I hold your future, "
Maybe not in those exact words, but along those lines.
Its like every doubt, or any confusion then again, there is this small still voice from his gift in my heart that says, "I love you" Hold on"
When about to say something I could regret to a loved one or someone or if I already did, there it is again saying, " Stop!Slow down, Go back, forgive, apologise.
It is Gods Love and you can feel it and you can feel his teachings in your heart...
Even if we dont speak in tongues Im sure if we invite him in our heart, its the same thing, tongues is a growth is just a sign that you have recieved a closer relationship with Jesus christ and it can be recieved at home when no one is judging you, we dont need to prove anything to them!
This can be a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Cheers.
no, this is not what i meant
