HI, Don't worry up there. your are only 30, I was 33 when I was there. alone by myself for 2 yrs studying in Birmingham, 2 hours train ride from London. I went alone all by myself finding my way there. Should not be a problem. Its 8 hours behind SG time due to winter now. Short day light, something like 3-4pm very dark, about 7pm in SG like that. Hopefully when you are there, not that dark. London Tube (subway, like our MRT) abit messy and very crowded, won't see any problem so long you can speak some kind of English. Singaporean are well known there, you find many anywhere in London. You can always make friends even in hte plan... just during the flight pace around, look around, and who knows, you may find someone just like you. But I think 28 Mar onward, I think its school holiday season.
Didn't know U going UK. when I 1st read your thread. Its going end of winter, weather is getting warmer... I mean not as cold as winter.. London is warmer than other parts of UK. You need to check the current temperature from internet, but warm cloth is still required.
Like some one mentioned, be prepared to bring emergency items up, such as medicine....... remeber to buy travel insurance as medical bill is a bomb over there. Things are XXX in London, since U are there for 1 month, why not travel out - day trip type on the inter city train. If you know how to interprete MRT plan, should not be a problem, just that theirs are for entire UK, so need to know where you are going. If for leisure and sightseeing, most of this places are X.. but depends on yo. Things are cheap in Birmingham, they have 1 pound shop like our $1.99 shop. you be surprise, some of the things sold are cheaper than SG. But look around, before buying anything. also watch out for market day, soomething I always find interesting to know what people do over there.
Food wise, no problem unless there has been a guarantee, else, almost anything you acan bring in.. Prepare some packed food like Bak Kua in plastic bag (stand by) you never know when you are hungry when you touch down, the hussle of finding food or getting one when you are on transport or even at airport. I once landed 5.55am in the morning, and nothing was opened, was so hungary as the weather was some 10 degree.. so can imagine cold and hungary. I share my B.K. with fellow Singaporeans like myself while still waiting to be transfer to coach early in the morning.. anyway, like I said, I don't know them ,so just make friends along the way. May I ask, why are you transiting? U not taking direct flight to UK, London?
I suppose since you have relative up there, should not be a problem. No need of VISA, make sure exit permit done, passport expiry date more than 6 months. if you need any more info, if I can help, write to me at
