I've gotten to a point in my life where i don't care about money. Yes, i do hold a good job in a good company, but i don't see the need to keep accumulating wealth by working hard to strive for promotions which means more money.
Granted, i do not have any financial obligations. I am not married, i do not have to worry about big financial worries like housing, and my parents are well off enough to take care of themselves financially.I am financially independent because my job pays for my expenses.
I guess this is the way i behave because i have always gotten whatever i want without any questions. (My father bought a me new car 3 months after i secured my first real job)
Is this something i should be worried about?
Everyone have different wants in their life. To some as long as they are happy with their lives, they do not need to live in luxury to be happy. You might not have a high need for achievement nor power like some people which motivates them to aim higher in the career ladder.
However, you might be starting a family in future so is your current income enough to support a family? You might not be attached nor have a girlfriend at the moment but somethings such things just happen.
You should stop relying on ur family and live off your own salary and income. Avoid letting your parents be paying or buying things for you anymore to ensure you are financially independent to support yourself and your needs.
But i am financially independent though because what i spend on myself is all from my own income.
Most people spend their income on house payments/vehicles.
Yet, Just that almost everything that is considered a luxury i will get in the future already or already have. (my father bought a brand new place in a prime area of Singapore, as illustrated in linked thread).
Its because of this that i feel that i don't have the need to keep accumulating wealth.

Houses requires maintainance, your children requires education funds etc etc
Do you want to just live comfortably for yourself and leave little to nothing for your children just because you didn't bother to work hard enough?
Your parents worked hard to let you their children live comfortably and have whatever you all want. Is that supposed to make you lazy and not care about your future generations?
There's no such thing as "i got enough money"
Money is never enough and think again .. Are those money yours?
No. its your dad's.
U know the hardship of earning money? No u dun apparently thus having this thread up.
If u could support yourself, get yourself a car + house and support everything thru your OWN earnings then u maybe good enough.
can u gimme some of that money?
Nope. Money is not everything to me.
I don't see why people work so hard and be a slave to the dollar, then when they are old, they complain that they wished that they could spend more quality time with family, friends, on hobbies and their interests, etc.
I make a very good salary to sustain myself. Which is what i am happy with. In fact, i love my job, i would do my job for the next ten years with slight increments each time if i could and not want to advance to a managerial level due to added responsibilities.
We all use the resources given to us to good use, my parents have never questioned the way i live my life, nor have they questioned on why i don't go for higher paying jobs (even though those work environments suck)
I feel that Singaporeans are too obsessed with money. Why can't we slow down and enjoy the world, smell the flowers, and appreciate life in general?
Achieve financial freedom, then its time to start contributing back to the world and society.

U are saying this cos u dun have to worry bout money, while we have too.
Let's face it in sg, "no money no talk"
Pls take note that not everyone are born with a silver spoon in their god damn mouth.
There are far richer people though.
My parents are probably the highest rung of the middle class.
I have been exposed to western way of living for most of my adult life, and in most of these countries, work life balance is far more important than a high wage.
Why can't Singapore have that mentality?

Yes there are richer ppl and do u know when they shoot their mouth like this in public, the chances of them getting to the papers are freaking high? Even Stomp.
SO PLS, Your family =/= The families of the whole Singapore.
Keep your comments to yourself, no one like being remind what r they working for.
Go speaker's corner and ask "Why can't Singapore have that mentality?"
I am pretty sure u will have lotsa answer.
Our standard of living in Singapore is pretty much one of the highest iirc.

I care about the money !!!
I’ve gotten to a point in my life where i really care about the $ but dont have a clue how to get most of it.
bet one dollar to bet on toto lor
TS, what's wrong with the feeling of contentment? absolutely nothing
Money , advatage. If u feel happy at what u got, and pretty sure it wont run out for the next.. say.. 1 to 2 generation, got no future plans about maybe say.. ur kids,ur wife. U can go pursue what u really want.. maybe ur happiness away from the confines of this money making machine ur parents, or parent's parents have pioneered.Money will run out. Just whether its in your time, the next...or who knows.
But like they say, never taste the hardlife, never know how hard it is to earn the moolah, and will NEVER appreciate the simple things in life, n take pretty much everything for granted.
Or .. once u know Jesus.. the worldly possessions are nothing but trinkets on this earth. Why not share some of that wealth.
mmm... i wonder if there is KFC in heaven. Or somthing better. Damn.. i am still hanging on to my material needs !! ooowww !! Weak !

Hi
Are you financially independent on your salary, or on your savings + investments?
There's a difference ;)
I'm financially independent on a little of both.
I have invested some of my money in policies with guaranteed returns and in some shares of my best friend's organization which has good returns on my initial investment.
omega mind if i ask????
are ur investnmetns 7digits figure?
just give a vauge answer will do..lol
No.
They are not 7 digit figures but in the high 5 digits closing in on the low 6 digits area.

I think it's more important to be financially independent not on salary :)
Anyway good amount of savings you have there. How old are you (if it's not too sensitive?)
either u gimme ur money or you still care about money.
whether u care abt money depends on wat u want in life la....i myself got 2 properties given to me and drive a luxury car...my family extremely well off....with a net worth of almost 50 million....i still dun think i got enough money enough woh.......coz maybe it has to do with my goal which is to hit 1 billion.......so like i say...it all depends on wat u want...if u are satisfied with ur current life so be it la....wat for come here and say...just live life the way u want it......
