Confronting them in such an aggresive manner will not help, likely make the situation worst.
RoyFang,
I think it better you pay a visit, intro yourself and ask them to walk more light footed.
Else, you can always present to them some soft sole slippers as a gift. They'll get the drift.
It did not help initially when I used the tactful and kind way of communication. Situation got worse. Tried the tough way and it worked.

Nah, I wouldn't want to do that.
If it's the situation like some suggested, it's their elderly using a walking stick who doesn't have the strength to control the impact against the floor or their daughter is skipping then wouldn't I be the one finding trouble by knocking at their floor?

There are some possible explanations being offered....one is.....that it is a kind of internal building physical phenomenon.......
So nobody is doing anything....just that at nighttime (only nighttime right ?) some physical phenomenon occured.....
Please note the timing and the location, and the duration....
If it is consistent, I would say,
It is not a result of human behaviour, but really the result of internal building process.
For human behaviour, logically the timing, location, and duration, would differ and varies.
Many people find the same problem like you btw. So this is real and serious.
Nope, it doesn't only happen at night. Sometimes it can last from afternoon to night with breaks in between. But sometimes it happens even into 2 plus am...can this internal building physical phenomenon be the reason?
I'm glad it's quiet tonight...

At least you tried the softer way FIRST.
While you have someone living above you, you are probably living above another family too.
Surely, everyone prefers to resolve neigbourly conflict amicably.

When I tried the soft way, the son told me they were on the top (last floor) and can afford to make noise to disturb neighbours. Then more hell from them. My mum ever talked in friendly and begging way to the person but failed to get cooperation from them.
They prefer the hard solution.

Like that, it is not an issue. The noise is music to your ears, able to destress you and make you sleep well. This is good.

Whenever they make noise. Take a long broom stick - tie a small hammer at the end and use this new tool to whack your roof. Then they know that the person under is unhappy.
but my "neighbour" upstair is weird..it's not just stomping..it's stomp running..and late in the night..u would hear furniture shifting..so loud and clear you know it wasn't some internal structure that causes the sound..and our conclusion is there is something living up there..and my neighbour doesn't know...
Originally posted by RoyFang:I'm seriously getting annoyed with my neighbour living directly above me, stomping on the floor (which is my ceiling). It goes stomp, stomp, break (sometimes short, sometime long), stomp, stomp. Sometimes even into late at night.
Just now, it was a furious and continuous stomping. Guess it's one of the "bad" things about HDB? Your ceiling is your above neighbour's floor...
They could be having a good fuck upstairs. Just go up, knock on their door and ask them if you can join in to have a threesome fuck
perhaps your neighbour has been living there way before your parents were born... ![]()
The stomping intensity will increase during the seventh month of the chinese lunar year.
write an email to your MP, then your MP will refer to HDB. HDB will send its staff to the flat mentioned to talk to them.
why dun u go up and knock on their door to tell them to stuff it out, cos its late at night.
Infest their home with Aliens
RoyFang
I think the neighbour lived above you will continue to do the same thing, may be not so often coz I'm speaking from experience.
I lived in 2nd floor, bcoz my other half scared of high floors LOL
oops.
The neighbour who lived in 3rd floor, hang wet laundries like men boxers, ladies old fashion bra (I seen it so that why I didn't win any lottery). When I tried to write email to town counci / NEA / call police or whatever also no use,
I confront them 'hello, can you hang dry your laundries @ balcony? water-dripping from your wet laundries. Did you throw rubbish out from the window? Did you kept dog at home? I always heard some sound from your unit at late night.'
A auntie answer the door gave reply was 'Oh I don't know, can not hang wet laundries huh. What?! only wind blow the rubbish towards your balcony direction!'
I understand how you feel. Such people don't admit it's their fault.
The stomping came back past few days.... :(
I'm those who doesn't want any trouble so I will bear with the sound, at least now it's quiet at night.
i got this problem too....threatened them with police(the dude wasnt frightened)...threatened him with HDB officers(slightly frightened).apparently he must have been quite skilled with hammering on someones ceiling in past and got away with it!used bamboo poles to knock at spot where he was hitting too but things showed no improvement n got worse1
maybe best thing and only thing to do now is to walk to the nearest GRC office where you get to meet your local minister of parliament.they usually have a meet your mp session every week highlighting grieviences from killer litter to bad neighbours from hell.
try at your local mp meet your local area mp...make a call...but i dun think its needed...just walk in at the allocated times...usually 7pm or something.after telling them your problem...they would pay a visit to neighbours from hell upstairs.
just call the cops
