This particular ger whom I liked since the first day of school got straight As for her A level exams and she intended to go to the law fac while I'm taking my As this year (I repeated my first year)... should I just give up on her?

to be honest i have no idea wat u have to "compete" with them, but with wat u've written u're already at a disadvantage.

You shouldn't feel inferior. As long as she doesn't look down on you, there is no reason for thinking that way. It is not as if you are beyond hope in your studies, sometimes brains are not everything, even though it is important to a certain extent. hmm.. even if i can get over this "intellectual difference" hurdle, there's one more fact that's making me feel uneasy and that is she was my good fren's ex. They were together for a while before the ger came to my college and later broke up with him.. Don't you peopl think it's a bit despicable if I was to chase her? -

how long since their break-up? and how close are u to ur fren.
can be a tricky situation. it really depends on how close u are to ur fren, in my opinion. after all u're not with this girl yet. is being with her gonna destroy the frenship with ur fren? -

Honestly, I'm abit close to my fren and I can't imagine what my fren will think of me if I'm together (at all) with his ex. -

Give me a break.. if that girl likes you only because you have better grades or are smarter than her, she's probably not as "smart" as you make her out to be.
In fact, if she is only attracted to those like that, she'll probably be superficial, and using her "intellect", she'll be calculating and pretty bad...
