anyone has an asperger spouse? how do you deal with it ?
autism?
"Asperger's syndrome is a developmental disorder that affects a child's ability to socialize and communicate effectively with others. Children with Asperger's syndrome typically exhibit social awkwardness and an all-absorbing interest in specific topics.
Doctors group Asperger's syndrome with other conditions that are called autistic spectrum disorders or pervasive developmental disorders. These disorders all involve problems with social skills and communication. Asperger's syndrome is generally thought to be at the milder end of this spectrum.
While there's no cure for Asperger's syndrome, if your child has the condition treatment can help him or her learn how to interact more successfully in social situations. "

Maybe, look, maybe they cannot get along well after marriage, so TS considering it. (But hope a divorce as a last resort)
How long you took to understand your spouse?
Or was it a love at first sight thingy. ![]()
Don't you know he has Asperger's?
Mild autism = asperger syndrome
I just found out about asperger recently. But all along I know something is amiss, just didn't know that is such a thing as asperger.
FireIce, yes related, but wasn't my choice
Can u and ur spouse get along?
is not easy to explain, becoz asperger would cause a lot of misunderstanding for both and unless u know about asperger, otherwise u get very upset, hurt and depress at times. only someone with aspie spouse can explain that. I only found this out recently and only now understand all that has happen. An answer to all that has happened.

Just to high-lite that the symptoms are so common to people as the whole.
Do not lable a person as an aspie, to justify discord in relationship.
Every one has different degree of autism and social skills. It is hard to tell apart. Easy to blame it on asperger syndrome.
It boils down to how to you think and interact with a person. Asperger syndrome, Bi-polar disorder, OCD, or any other disorder, all can be treated and managed.
The biggest problem with personality disorders is with the person who expect the other to be perfect and easy to be with.
Examine the personalities of people who have dealt with difficult people or other disorders. Do not narrow down to just asperger. How does a person live with a OCD spouse? Your answer lies in the care giver, not the patient.
Divorce is not part of the treatment, but it is an option.
u can only understand when u dealt with one, otherwise is normal that people thinks like u.

from this description of the problem maybe TS is the one suffering from it instead.
Its not about the minority or majority. These people usuallywill display interest in certain topics. so if 1 million people in sgpore indulge in watching world cup, they might just be the ones who are suffering from it ![]()

Not sure i did not ask my relative.
Asperger is high funtioning autism, they can be very intelligent, IQ can be higher than average. There are many famous people out there got asperger. Every individual asperger is different. Anyone interested to know more go the wrong planet websit and lots of information on them. But they don't tell u how to deal with them.
How do you "deal" with a person with asperger?
If the person is a transient person, then you deal with him, be on your way and that is the end of the matter.
But with family, spouse you don't deal with them, you accept them as they are. You are aware of the situation and accomodate the person. Lots of patience is needed, and it is often a trying and frustrating experience, and temper being let loose.
You have said it, "Every individual asperger is different." So what magic bullet are you expecting that can help you "deal" with a person with asperger. No two situations are alike.
You exercise the utmost understanding and maturity with a seemingly odd person in the family. You grow as a result.
Display espersion and you only end up being bitter and scornful.
