Hi all.
I wish to get this unhappy episode off my chest. I had a good friend. I knew him from pri school all the way through adulthood. Once day, he smsed me asking for a loan of 5k. He said he had lost money on shares. Being good friends, I agreed and passed him the money. He promised he would return in 2 months' time.
After 2 months, he suddenly became uncontactable. He did not reply to my smses and calls. So I decided to go to his place. His mother came out and accused me of harassment. She also yelled vulgarities at me. I then went home and found my "good friend" sms on my hp. It read:"sa meow, if u disturb me again, i will report police."
I was very upset. I helped him yet he accused me of disturbing him. BTW, my name is Samuel and by "sa meow" he meant that I was a "silly cat". Am I really a silly cat? I am seriously thinking of changing my name.
This incident really traumatised me alot. Now I don't trust pple anymore.
Maybe to some of u 5k is a small amount. But to me, a low-income earner, its alot. I slogged for a relatively long period of time to save up the amount.
5k for a expensive lesson. Well money is always sensitive.
well, its a lesson to learn.
i doubt that he would return you the money.
Hmmm forget this fren la...nth much u can do to get him to return the money.
Next time you better think carefully before u lend money to frens again lor.
gone liao la...
That is why I never lend money to anybody.
That is why I lost faith in humanity.
-pat pat-
Totally understand your situation. Happen to me also, but mine is hundreds only. Life still goes on lah, don't think so much liao. He is no longer your friend.
I have this encounter before.
$100+... Bank Transfer... He say he will transfer to me .... A week later I asked... he say he did transfer to me... but he had no record of the transfer.... Know him for a few years... Trust him to cheat me over $100+ saying the bank transfer didnt go through....

Know him from childhood until adult doesn't mean its good friend. If go thru thick and thin, even 6months acquitance can form a brotherhood bond.
I don't know why many people uses time as a way to gauge as good friends..
I seriously doubt you know what is called good friends.
Brother, find a street smart guy and learn more from him so that you can really handle the outside world..
Welcome to the real World.
About lending money to friends.
I always give this advice.
You lose the friend and the money
Or
You keep the money, and lose just the friend.
Come on, that guy has no money, can't you also say you have no money.
Friends have tried to sell me insurance, I always tell them I need a loan. Can they arrange for me. <poof!>They are gone.
Take this as a lesson - expensive though it may be, the money can be earned back.
You've discovered what your "good" friend is really like. Suckered once strrill ok....... but not twice or more hor............
As Shakespeare had written : "Never a lender nor a borrower be"...........
In your life, sure got relative or friend borrow money from you.
If your want to borrow, expect no return or else you will be disappointed.
No matter what, if you borrow or not, you will lose a friend or relative.
So, whether you want to lose one or both, you decide.
There is a third case of you borrow and people return.
That is only rare case.

Beat him up and ask him to go report to Police.
Beat him up everyday until he goes and report to Police.
If you do not have an evidence to prove that you have loan him 5k of money, then he also do not have any evidence to prove that you are the person who beaten him up.
Your friend will NEVER go to Police because he will need to admit that he had borrowed 5k of money from you.
Your friend will NEVER go to Police because he will need to prove that you are the person who have beaten him up on a daily basis.
And Police doesn't give a damn about who beat who up if it is only between two insignificant individuals and nobody were inflicted with serious bodily harm or any physical weapons/objects were involved during the beatings.
Let your 5k friend knows if you want while you are beating him up ok? :)
Ur $$ gone lia0
never lend ur fren any amount of $$ that u cant afford...
unless small amount
nvr help a friend by giving him money.. can only help by giving your time and energy..
Sorry to hear that; $5000 is quite a significant amount to most people.
All I can really say is to accept your losses, cut off all contact from this fella, and move on. If it's any consolation to you, what goes round comes round, and that unforgiven debt of $5k will someday come back to bite him from the rear.
I've experienced something similar, with the parents of my tuition students refusing to pay me for teaching their children. So, fine, I refuse to write off their debts. Someday it will all come back to haunt them, I'm sure of it.
woah this is damn fucked up man.
if it had happened to me damn dat dude's gon get it from me. borrow $ liao still say ple harass him. what kind of mother shit is that?
this kind of bastard must beat up one. cannot sua sua move on.
Ha Ha Ha, as i have post on another thread:
Your friend borrow money from you, beg and call you lao peh
You wanna take back money from your friend, you beg and call him lao peh.....and you can't even get back a single cents....!!! ![]()
and someone say my verse is old sch and lame...... ![]()
haiz......
i also gave mine gf 5k to settle her educational bills..............after that she found a job and thinks that she bigger than me liao.......... :(
somehow people like to bite the hand that feed them, dun really understand why

u are one fucking dumb prick.
it's an expensive lesson to know that's how your friend regards u. Actually the policy is..never borrow from or lend money to anyone. No matter how trustworthy u think he or she is. High chance you will not get it back.
You passed it to him in cash? If bank transfer, can still trace. Perhaps you value friendship very strongly, that's why your desire to "help a friend in need". You must be a very loyal friend but don't let this incident get u down. On a very positive note, it opens up your eyes and will prevent a bigger disaster in future.
Money can always earn back one......you gotta move on.
