When someone asks you, "How did you fall in love with that girl?" How would you answer? My answer would be, "Because she's so sweet, caring, gentle & she's got a great character!"
That's what I'd answer anyone. But the truth is.... because she's pretty.
I found that the one of the most basic requirements for me to fall for anyone is her looks! Though I won't fall for EVERYONE who looks beautiful. Being beautiful is one thing, she must at least have a decent behaviour too. Whao! Such high requrements! I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this way, just that not many would admit it. It makes you seem so shallow.
The thing is, I don't want to feel this way. I don't want to fall for only pretty faces. I want to fall for ordinary looking girls as well. I have missed out a few chances of going into a relationship because of the way I think. Because the girls who had feelings for me, didn't really score that well in the looks department. I wished I had given them more chances, but I simple can't. I have no feelings for plain looking girls like them. Why??! I don't want to think this way!

Why you may ask.
Someone who knows what they want is better than someone who doesn't know what they want. There are many guys in the world who will accept almost any kind, category, types of woman, as long as they are biologically born female with decent character, its good enough.
My theory is this: Pick the girl that appeals to you the best (highly subjective, since it is personal preception) because don't ever live your life one fine day and discover this someone who looks better than your gf and your heart start to itch.
In your case if you are able to get pretty g/f with decent character, then go ahead, because let me tell you: you can give chance to plain jane (I said giving chance because I presume you ain't very interested in them, because if you are really interested, looks factors stands very minor precentage - its more about the inner beauty) - but one fine day Miss pretty with-as-good-as-your-gf's character were to appear and its likely, you heart will spin and comparison take place.
In summary: Its bad to dump your gf for another gf because of physical looks. So choose one that is appealing in your eyes to reduce the chance of such scenario.

Of cos.. physical appearance do score well in everyone's criteria.. But this is jus only part of it.. Who knows that a pretty lady who has a sh|t character.. do you still wan her to your gf?? Obviously No!
Looks can be deceiving.. Never judge them on that.. YOu say you have no feeling for those plain looking girls.. What do those pretty ladies out there attracts you?? Only their looks and nothing else... Feelings can developed.. Noone ask you to go into a relationship jus for the sick of GOIN INTO!
Pretty girls are attractive to men and women.. But is this what you called love or love at first sight?? Jus becos she's beautiful.. And thats it! God is fair.. Noone is perfect.. A good looking girl.. might have a bad personality and character.. A plain looking girl might have a decent one..
But if ever you find someone who is pretty and with such good quality.. then go for it.. grab every chance you haf.. But as i say.. beauty lies in the eyes of beholder!!

Actually... I believe people are all judgemental animals. Usually their eyes will spring towards the most attractive first... But falling in love really is much more than that... it takes time and lots of chemistry, a lot of understanding. All these will only show when you spend quality time with your partner.
What Yunhaier mentioned, I sorta agree. The "play-safe" policy. It may sound bad. That is why you have to know your own character. Are you one who gets distracted easily? For instance, you are given a very caring and good girlfriend, but in terms of appearance, she is never what you want. Then a babe walks past, hints at you... will you start wanting to know her? Even with that slightest thought, it is already a wrong move. No determination.
So quite often, the dilemma is... you have fall in love with this charismatic girl, she has lots of wits, intelligent and fun. But she is those average kind of girl on the streets, and you like her for who she is. You know her and might have the chance to know her more, and develop more feelings from there. But at the back of your mind, something is pulling you back...
You fear that one day, if you and her are already an item, an attractive girl walks into your life, or a pretty girl you like long ago fancies you all of a sudden... and your current girlfriend is definitely more inferior in terms of looks... will your heart and mind begin to struggle? -

Wat U goin thru is wat I have gone thru... I not even sure I've GONE thru or not... Its not easy to have a companion when U initially r attracted by her looks & such... Wat I mean is: instead of "dun wan dat wae", Y not accept it? Many said here, "looks 1st, then comes character." Y not go wif it? Get to noe da "pretty" gal more, then once long enuf U WILL noe wat shes like... till then U can reaccess yr feelings for her... "Was it merely lust or U REALLY like her?"

I still "like" pretty faces, BUT then I get to NOE her 1st... then once long liao, I OVERLOOK her aesthetic features & start to see more of her "inside" as in her character & such... The thing about most chio bus is, they tend to be more spoilt then the rest. Thus they wouldn't have a fantastic character. However bad their character is, their looks always seem to be able to cover it up for them. For this reason, they never fail to attract enough males to their side. For these type of girls, they're only worth looking & then you can forget about them.
The ordinary looking ones... generally they're more mature in thinking, more sensible. Maybe its because they dun have the type of treatment that chio bus get. So they're not spoilt like them. Some of them have really beautiful character. You'd think they'll make wonderful wives. However, because of their less-then-ordinary looks, most guys (like myself) tend to treat them like a friend & only a friend. I can't get myself to like her, even if I try.
How about the ones who are beautiful, both inside & out? These are really rare gems. I'd consider myself really lucky if I'm able to know these gems. But needless to say, they're too far fetched for most of us. If you like her, you're just one of the tonnes of guys who's already in front of the queue. Go ahead & try by all means. But be prepared, cos you're most likely to fail.

For long term relationship, most of us would prefer the 2nd & 3rd catagory. But as mentioned, the 3rd catagory is so far fetched. So sometimes I think of giving the 2nd catagories a chance. Everyone wants a good looking gf/bf with great character, no doubt. The key thing is that are you able to get them? Desire and reality is two different thing: if you are able to - I say go for it, because when you found a good one - its unlikely you will drop him/her for another potential - then everything has to be depended on how this relationship is being led. In theory, this will greatly reduce the chance of failing in the relationship - however it best to be work in two ways (she preceived (highly subjective) you are good looking and same other way round.), but in reality: it isn't so perfect.

Ok, maybe I shouldn't say "ALWAYS seem to be able to cover it up for them." But I'm sure I can say most of the time. There are guys out there who put looks as the very 1st piority. That's why pretty girls tend to enjoy these courtships first before revealing their sucky self after a few weeks of dating. After that, they can simply press the "NEXT" button & new courtship starts.
As for guys like yourself, maybe you wouldn't judge so much on a girl's looks but really go for her inner beauty. That's good for you. I'm not so lucky. I tend to fall for pretty girls easily & have many "2nd thoughts" over plain janes. I hate this side of me, but there's little I can do about it. I just hope fate is kind enough to grant me someone I like & she too likes me in return.
