(1) is sad but the feeling that both shared is valuable in your life after he/she dies. This feeling will be the very thing that will be with you for the rest of your life to give you hope and optimism to live on, be it to live along or to find a new partner. Therefore (1) not as sad as (2)
(2) is sadder. Unrequited love can always be dismissed to find new love. The problem lies when one cannot move on and harps on it for the rest of his/her love. That would be the saddest thing in the whole world. It's really hard to move on from someone you love and deemed as the only love in yr life. -

Both not so sad for me la ...
Unless you ask 1) if she dies when she owe me a lot of money
2) if she tells me she only love my money when I plan to spend my life with her
then I would say (1) ... :p -
I think number two is sadder.
The only thing when a girl dumped me, I will lied to myself that she was dead (number one) to console myself. This way I will feel better. -
(1) imagine making lotsa plans for the future but death had to claim her at the most blissful moment... that sudden eternal loss is too much for me...
(2) i'm be more than glad to know that i won't be wasting effort on someone who no longer appreciates. better to let it end before it starts to hurt more...
(1) has the most impact on me...
