Maybe it's because you felt that nothing much has changed (esp for the better) in your life. -

most festive season is a time to rekindle family ties.. it is better celebrated if a family can come together on these joyous occasions.. take time to show how much they mean to you

I feel that the 'season' represents a NEW year... For many Chinese, the CNY often signifies a NEW YEAR more than 01/01... Sometimes when a new season comes, people reflects on their lives...
It could also be a state of comparison? Something which is of my past... Chinese New Year used to be one of the public holiday season I LOVED so much... (probably true for many others out there as majority of us have a childhood where CNY brings good memories...) But the drastic change that it brings upon today... Due to financial glooms of the economy... People don't look as happy as before... Many indirect problems which arises... Some avoid meeting relatives due to their financial limits for ang paos... Some avoided because of problems that arises around these bad years... People not as warm and friendly as before... The society getting more cold and selfish in general? More practical...? With 'practicality' CNY can really lose its meanings....
