Go seek a lawyer and bring your ex to court to make him pay you back for the amount that he owes you. In Singapore, a verbal agreement between two people is sufficient.
You will need to get a 'proof of debt', you can meet up with him at a quiet place, sit down at a corner with your lawyer at the next table and discuss about the amount that he owes you. Make him confess the amount, since the lawyer is bided by oath, he can be a witness to the judge that this conversation was carried on such a date, time and with a tape recorder as backup.
So there! GO FIGHT YOUR CASE!
One more thing, if your ex has no money, no bank account, no ownership of any vehicle, motorcycle, laptop or anything valuable... then I suggest you get the evidence first and wait till he is in his 30's or has some valuables which you can get judgement from the courts to seize his assets and go for auction to sell his valuables!!!

hmmm... I think you should go to his house, and sit down and talk to him. But at the first place, I believe u should have stopped him from joining the MLM company, unless it is a reputable company. But i'll not talk about wat u should have done, cos nothing can change wat has happened.
just go to his house and sit down and talk with him. Dun go in and shout at him or anything, listen to wat he has to say first. If he really dun have the money to pay u back, ask him to pay in installment. like $200 per month or something like that.
If he simply refuses to pay u back for watever reasons, give him a tight slap and leave. There's really nothing u can do, u dun have a iou or anything similar, therefore going to the police won't help. If you really want to try and get the money back, as a last resort, go talk to his parents, i'm sure they know u. Tell them wat happened and ask them if it's possible to pay u back the money. But please dun quarrel with the parents for the money, cos the parents has no obligations to pay for their son.

Please read below... in Singapore a verbal agreement between two people is considered a 'binding contract'(For those who are clueless what that means, please go to http://www.lawonline.com.sg/newhome.asp or http://statutes.agc.gov.sg/ <- will give you an in-depth view of our governing statutes). He would have to swear an oath in court and tell the judge that he did not promise to pay her or borrow from her or she lent or took money from her, so many questions to tackle, a barrage of questions like these, he will sure mess up especially, he would have to answer no no yes no. Trust me, if you're up on the stand in front of the judge and a good lawyer, you will make that mistake and there's always the lie detector test. haiz.......feel so sory for u ....why not i suggest that call all members of forums to go up his house and wan the money back from him,even not him den ask from his parents lor,as he is the son of his parents ,his actions should be answer by his parents too...........!!
