LOCAL UNIVERSITY (NTU/NUS) ADMISSION

I still do not know the real reason behind why a diploma graduate with merit fron ngee ann poly could not complete with average B graduate from singapore poly.
Hopefully with my poly grades 10A 16B 13C 1D from Singapore Poly, I can enter the local university. -

My friend who manage to enter NTU with average B grades at Singapore Polytechnic told me that our 'O' level Chinese play a part in the admission process too. He got a B3.Getting a good grade in Chinese will boost your chances of admission? Can I clarify on this?
Even though the MOE has mentioned that getting a D7 is sufficient as a requirement for chinese, but NTU will still recognize those with good chinese grade. How true is that? -

i only have one question.... why did u choose engineering?
im doing my final year and all i can say is that so far i know nothing ....
i copy everything and i know the right people thats why i pass all my exams... i see a lot of people drop out... U MUST BE MENTALLY PREPARED FOR THIS COURSE OTHERWISE U MAY NEVER FINISH.... -

.....my grades are all boarderline....i mostly memorise the questions and answers .....
if u dun mind me asking what work experiences haave u got? -
hmmm, NTU engineering not so easy, especially with the huge influx of foreign elites....have been in NTU for 2 sems, both sems my class consists of nore than 50% foreigners....coincidence ? i dunno but i won't be surprised if they make up 30-40% of the students...failing rate is rather high too, especially for subjects like Dynamics, Computing and Statics. the average failing rate is about 10% or so....more for the mentioned 3.

Universities accept poly students on a different front and chinese results can help boost ur entry if they are good and u decide to use them for consideration. THey used different criterias for the polys. 2 persons may have the same average B grades, then they will consider other things like IA performance, chinese grades or whichever outstanding areas the students have. -

the most important thing into getting into local u is ur poly results..frankly speaking i haven got any com holder friends who cant get into local u..unless u got r com holder or close,can forget abt applyin..

gals do hav a slight advantage when applyin eng. course but if u dun get in dun be sad..bcos im studyin eee n it is pretty tough..u will see ppl droppin out n even com holder failing subjects..its when u get in tat ur head starts aching..

I think local university look down on Polytechnic students. Don't even think of applying. I applied for it but I don't think I will get in because I heard that once you have a grade C or below in your results, you will not get in.
Don't ever pin your hopes on Singapore. The country has a struck up attitude and I can't wait to leave the place who not only wasted my time (2 and a half years) and look down on me just because I did not choose to go into a stupid JC. -
At least u got ur diploma and can get a job with a reasonable salary. U cant compare jc and poly students like tt, poly students are more hands on. Jc students do not get much hands on exp with regards to job appeals. If u make the jc and poly qualification equal, Jc students will lose out cos wat can they do if they do not go to uni?
At least poly students get a diploma. And do note: A diploma is better than A level in terms of job wise. -
