I think this is not really true. They accepted my application some time back, and I did have some C's. I met a friend during my iap from ntu, his poly results was really sorry state (mostly C) but yet he get into U due to working job experience for 2 years. Forget to mention that he managed to get in U in his 3rd attempts.
I also apply for triple E this years but I'm not pinning much high hope as the admission this year is quite large numbers of applications due to several changes. Like one of the lecturer told me, "It's not the end of the road even you are not selected to go to local U, there is always next year) -

And I did not get an offer letter. I don't know how they choose their students but congrats to you, chio_bu, 798 and goldberg I did not get an offer letter. I did get an interview letter from MOE though. -

I can say NTU really relaxed its admission system this year as it is really to take in more polytechnic graduates. -

Everyone here seems delighted to get into NTU. When will the NUS results be out? I got the letter too, EEE. but i have not accepted it yet. I thought of continuing with the PSB newcastle degree.
In terms of international recognition, I think both are on par. It's just tat the local uni is cheaper. But newcastle is P/T. So I can work and gain experience. Tough though. Working F/T and studying P/T.
Besides at the age of 25, I feel terrible about relying on my mum for pocket $. And working P/T while studying F/T stinks too. and if I work P/T and study F/T, isn't tat just a reversal of roles when compared to the PSB newcastle degree? And I get less income and job exp tat is totally unrelated.
Still undecided though, a part of me wishes to experience varsity life. though i think it's somewhat similar to poly life. at least the local uni has better infrastructure and support. a proper system.
Foreign challenges are everywhere. Learn to live with it. Even in the workplace, I sometimes feel outnumbered. I would be clubbed to death if I shout : 'Go back you foreign Dogs!!!'...
We have been too protected for way too long. The SG govt has protected us, the banks, telcos, etc. Open your eyes. We are not alone in this world. Welcome and embrace the challenges. We might receive the same treatment too if we went to the US or europe. I must admit though, some of these so called foreign talent are absolute crap. They know jackshit.
But if they are intelligent, I would learn from them. And if they are clueless, I would guide them. I will try to look beyond nationality and race. But I must always watch my back.... -
