I think that the guy still loves the girl. He requested for her photos which means that he will miss her when she is not around anymore. Also, he has mentioned that he would jump with her if he was at the scene and isnt this an act of foolishness when you are blinded by love?
Perhaps he did not want to stop her as he wanted to show the girl that he respects her decision and allows her to do what she thinks is best for her. -

well... many people have many definitions of love. that honestly depends on you. There's this anecdote i heard once, there was this cop who was with his wife strolling in the park one day, out of the blue, the cop asked his wife what will she do if he died in the line of duty. Personally, I think this is the kind of reply i will give my gf if she asks me that sort of qns. But i believe that this sort of qns should always be avoided, for you may not always get the kind of answer you want, then again, if it isn't the answer you want, i think you got the answer to your question already (get my drift?)
Seriously speaking i think the guy probably wasn't all that tactful with his reply or he was just plain flippant. We guys do that all the time by quipping some dumb remark that we know is meaningless to our male buddies, unaware of the conseqences when applied to the fairer sex. So ladies take it easy, sometimes we say things that we don't really mean or maybe we thought that ya qns are asked jokingly. So i suggest maybe end ya questions with a serious look into his/her eyes and say 'Really". It sorta worked for me. But don't say i din warn you about the quarrel that will ensue..
