borrow money

a relative of mine just borrowed a few hundred bucks from me...i mean, that would set my budget back by months at least. when he approached me i was reluctant to agree because it's not a small sum. but i still gave it to him because i mean, we are family, if he wasnt in a a great need, he wouldnt ask frm me.
right now, i am feeling heart ache because i large sum of money was loaned to him and he hasnt returned the money previously loaned to him.
then at the same time, i feel abit sad for him too.
haiz...sian man..why do all the brats i know get all the stuff they need while i have to draw up a farking budget plan on a monthly allowance of 180 and i have to badger for a temp increase to cover the increased in expenses while having an itp w/o pay. then those rich brats get hundreds of dollars in pocket money while their parents pay for everything they want. buy cars..buy this buy that. so many young drivers out there under 25 owning BMWs,ferraris and a host of other exotic cars...can those punks earn tat much in 3 years to afford it all ?
sometimes i wonder why am i so bloody poor. u know my budget is so bloody detailed i note down every cent i spent on everyday and i calculate the shortfall. and if i realised i accidentally wrote down the price, i go back and update it. -
same here, got 2 younger brother still schooling and parents dont earn a lot, so i also do careful budgeting with my salary and spend as little as i could. But i try not to stress myself, things will get better some day.
for those spoilt brats u're mentioning, why bother about them? One day if their rich parents lost their jobs/business, they wouldnt be able to adapt to poor life and may even blame their parents.
In a way i feel that this is a training in life. cheer up...u'd definitely be a better person -
haiz we r in the same boat. well jus set ur aim lower n mayb u will b happier.

dun liddat lah, angry at mi will not solve your problem mah... and in the first place, u r the one tat lend him the money...
notice that u seems to hav this thread of behaviour...u will regret for a lot of things u did ... dont u find it? No point coming here to vent anger at others even if it is lame lor... guess mi oso give u advices at times...
tat goes to the point when u said u hav little or practically no friends in your 1st 2 yrs in poly... look at your erractic behaviour... when u good mood, u come joking, and when u in bad mood, u just disregard those who has once shown kindness to u... hope u r not liddat in real life.
Well, guess u r one tat like to wallow in your sorrows after u have done something... if u continue to regret for wat u did previously, good luck to u... u will live a live of sorrow and entrenched in self-pity...

i budget too. i always try to keep my monthly spending on around $500. jus eat cheap, avoid cabs, dun spend frivolously... i guess my upbringing helped. my family was never rich.
look at it another way: u learn the hard way the value of money and budgeting. tt will bring u to miles. as for the "brats", it will be good luck to them if they ever lose their treasures. -

the principle in lending money:
always have this attitude of "giving" away that amount and not expecting it back. in other words, lend what you can afford to lose.
i never expect my money to come back if i lend. if they DO come back, it is a bonus. -

Cheer up, dude.
In HAVING TO note down all your purchases and be very careful of your spending, it's like TRAINING you know, to be more prudent in financial matters.
At least next time when you get retrenched or something, you KNOW how to cope with the sudden cut-off of income, unlike those who used to have all the money to spend and didn't have to worry about it.
If your relative doesn't return the sum despite repeatedly asking for it, and if apparently it's within his means to do so, why not try seeking the help and advice of a more senior member of the family?

Me worse than you, 1 month only $120, must pay for hp,internet and cable tv althought the cable tv is a mistake on my part, thinking that $30 a month won't make a big diffences but now
and my sis won even pay a single cent for the internet.....
and she is the 1 that use the most.. I even need to ask her permision b4 i can use
