To begin, I am not a doctor by profession so pls do not take every of my word though I am sharing from experience.

There's no denying, some GPs are complete morons who are only good in prescribing paracetomol and issuing MCs, so do take a pinch of salt to what they say during consultation. It's always good to do ur own due dilligence.
Ok, for background, I was ur eczema boy next door.

It was esp itchy at the joints in front of the elbows and behind the knees. I had used a wide range of external creams and ointments but they only provided temporary relief. But I do remember I was eczema free for awhile. Then during NS, eczema erupted big time, even e area around my groin was affected. It itch like crazy so I scratch like crazy. Went to see e MO and was referred to a dermatologist at Skin Centre. I can never forget the awkwardness when she tried to assure me "It's ok" when I expose myself to her.

Anyway, she prescribed this amazing steriod based cream, hydrocortisone (medium) from Glaxo, along with antihistamine tablets and mild antibiotics (can't remember which 1, it was abt 10 yrs ago). The steroid based cream does have side effects, ie. thinner skin, more prominent veins, excessive hair growth.
As for removing the pot marks, tanning does help no doubts. And I love the beach so I guess that helps too. Personally e scars never bothered me so apart from doing beach activities I did nothing else. No one can tell that I was once plaqued with eczema and scabies ( which was 100x more itchy!! But that's another story). I confess bathing was never my habit.

Hope these help and get well soon!
