Are you trying to do a install of SP2 into your current comp? Your comp is winxp home or pro? CD key original? Can give ur comp specs? Sometimes its cause ur comp may not have enough disk space.Originally posted by no_speeding:CD is original.
everything is in place.
I juz dun noe why it doesnt install...![]()
Cant be, coz i have 2 CD rom on that PC. Both dun register.Originally posted by nemo77:your CD-ROM drive could be faulty...
try to copy all installation files to local hd then continue the installation.
Based on the config of your comp.. Its is kinda slow and not really stable to use windows XP pro.. Usually min requirement for winxp pro is at least 1g and above.. Your comp maybe still installing the new program.. What i advice is u do a reinstall of your windows.. Best if its win2k.. THats adviceable.Originally posted by no_speeding:Okie guys, appreciate it if u bear with me for a while..
EVerything is original inclusive of software (ANASYS 6.1) and Win XP Pro.
My comp is alittle on the slow side. Haven update the hardware for awhile but i believe its running at 750Mhz (AMD) and at 384MB of ram.
The rest is pretty normal. everything seems normal except its prone to alittle lag, most prob due to the window updates???
So what else is wrong?
Is it the setting? Frankly, the PC runs fine except for the installation of the softwares...
shacks...
Even the harddisk is new, brought about 8 mths back.
Western digital, 40GB.
I dun use the PC often coz i tend to use my LAptop but in this case, i desperately need to install the prog onto this PC...![]()

Do a over ride format first. If it still does not help, do a clean format.Originally posted by no_speeding:Hi all,
I stay in the west... Anyone near me?! hahaha...
Okoki, i decided to reformat the entire harddisk and install XP again.
However, this msg also surface when i try to reformat...
I try to format using the 'command prompt' by typing c:\format c:
'Volume cannot run becoz the volume is in use by another process. Format may run if this volume is dismounted first.'
Ahhhhh....
Spent 5 hours in front of PC....
Nothing achieved. sigh...![]()

You mention there is no blue screen.. Do you manage to go till the part where they tell you that you are ready to install SP2?
