A normal over right install.. WILL NOT wipe out things.. But things which are in your MY DOCUMENTS and C drive MAY be lost.. Depending on what windows has repaired for you.Originally posted by no_speeding:But if i juz reinstall it, the formal stuffs in my C drive would be left intact rite?
I suspect one of the reason why my Comp is giving much probs is due to worms and trojan clogging up everything..
Would juz reinstalling clear up the trojans and worms?![]()
Actually, i had norton and this AVG virus prog...Originally posted by sillyme:have you got any pc utilities installed? e.g. norton systemworks
In this case, you can choose to restart the computer, with the CD still in the drive, orOriginally posted by no_speeding:Anyone has any idea why XP refuse to launch prog installation?
The installation (blue) screen doesnt appear. Is any setting wrong?![]()
You should format the c: drive during the your WinXP installation.Originally posted by no_speeding:Hi all,
I try to format using the 'command prompt' by typing c:\format c:
'Volume cannot run becoz the volume is in use by another process. Format may run if this volume is dismounted first.'
It will run your dos prompt. Since you are just installing WinXP, you probably dun need to use it.Originally posted by no_speeding:Anyway, anyone has any idea what the command 'run CMD' will do?![]()
If it didn't clear up your previous workfile, it will probably not clear up your trojans and worms.Originally posted by no_speeding:Would juz reinstalling clear up the trojans and worms?![]()
i kindda agree but welcomes any enlightenment otherwise.Originally posted by Kennerve:Based on the config of your comp.. Its is kinda slow and not really stable to use windows XP pro.. Usually min requirement for winxp pro is at least 1g and above.. Your comp maybe still installing the new program.. What i advice is u do a reinstall of your windows.. Best if its win2k.. THats adviceable.
You mention there is no blue screen.. Do you manage to go till the part where they tell you that you are ready to install SP2?
