Nope, that was because in 1998 SBS wanted to deploy full fleet AC on the more popular bus routes. Services like 2, 7, 12, 27, 30, 143, 166 etc were converted to FAC. As such services like 77 as well as 6, 79, 90, 138, 151, 156, 175 etc were converted to PAC. Feeder services only started getting PAC one year later when the NAC Volvo MK2s, Scania N113CRBs and Mercs were converted to CAC.
And I remembered service 77 converted back to FAC in Jan 2000 just before it was handed over to Tibs in Jun that year

it occured because there was no more requirement for aircon service for svs with longer waiting time.

If I am not mistaken service 187 for a start was under full JRBP, after which it came under full BBDEP. Btw Volvo MK3s ever did service 187 as well?
Scania BR112DH double decker demo use to operate in service 10 or 30 from old jurong interchange to Bedok interchange. I took it for a joy ride during my school holiday in the later 80s and early 90s. This bus has the same feeling as today Scania buses which the engine sound like the n113crb, not really as comfort as the 0305s DD. But it better than all leyland DDs that time. the Volvo B55 Alisa was considered a rare item
Not many operators in Asia got it afaik
Volvo b55 Alisa ver rare indeed. I remenber it look and sound like a volvo b57 with a extra sitting 2nd level. I wonder which bus deport it attached to ? Most of the Merc 0350s DD seems comming from the west side deport and most volvo buses seems comming from the east side deport. Toa Payoh had all the leyland buses from SD to DDs.

However, in this case, the withdrawal reasons for 175 was not because of the amendments of 99. Only service 242 used to ply along Jurong West St 72 and Ave 5. This service, together with 188 was withdrawn on 20 Jan 1991 to minimise route duplcation.

service 243 was purely introduced as a new feeder service in 1993, to extend its coverage around Jurong West (st 75, st 81). Hoever, both 99 and 242 were not amended as they still serve the ave 5 and st 72 sector and does not result in the introduction of 243.

===== THE SHIFT TO BOON LAY BUS INTERCHANGE ON 1 JULY 1990 =====
Boon Lay Bus Interchange (aka Blk 699/699A) commences its operations on 1 Jul 1990. The main focus of the interchange is basically connects to the new Boon Lay MRT Station which opened to the public on 6 Jul 1990.
Its suggestions from the public in the past had paid-off and was in a due consideration that a new interchange to be erected, when the MRT was still under construction in 1988-89. The new interchange in Boon Lay became a virtue to the residents of the new satellite town in Jurong West/Boon Lay area. However, its existing Jurong Interchange which was opened on 1 JUne 1978 as part of the Jurong Bus Rationalisation was proven useful and strategically loacted at Jurong Port Rd. Jurong Interchage became an integrated hub with a well-organised bus service (you may wish to refer back to this thread on Rationalisation of Jurong Bus Service article)
As the Jurong West New twon being developed in rapid stages during the period of 1980s, Jurong Interchange would became out of step as time goes by. Those commuters from Jurong West would have to take a bus down to Jurong Int and transfer another bus to their workplace in Tuas/Jurong Ind Estates. In the past, the Jurong Interchange served the public well as it was then a bustling interchange with shipyardds, factrories and industrial estates surrounding the Jurong area as that part of Boon Lay still undeveloped. With the new Boon Lay Int and the direct connection to the MRT, commuters had welcomed the move and was pleased with the new and spacious interchange that SBS had undertaken to improve the standards on its bus services.
It is also noticed that Jurong Interchange had constructed an annex to expand its passenger concourse to ease the passenger flow by relocating its services to different berths in 2 phases on 30 Nov and 7 Dec 1987.
