More bus trips, bigger buses
TWENTY heavily-used bus services will get more buses and bigger buses from Monday. The North-East MRT line will also get 120 more train trips per week.
Transport Minister Raymond Lim announced this during his visit to the Distance Fares roadshow at Boon Lay Bus Interchange on Saturday.
These efforts to ease crowded buses and trains followed the recent Budget debates, during which Mr Lim had said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will work with the operators to improve capacity on busy bus services.
'These improvements underscore our collective commitment to enhance both the bus and rail services for the benefit of commuters, wherever possible,' said Mr Lim.
The twenty bus routes will get 71 additional trips a day. Double decker and bendy buses will also be deployed instead of the usual single-decked short buses.
However, these measures will only kick in during what the operators termed as 'peak of peak' hours. The 'peak of peak' period - an half-hour duration anytime between 7am and 9am, and between 5.30pm and 7.30pm - varies depending on the bus routes.
Of the 20 bus routes, half of them are run by SBS Transit and the other half by SMRT.

71 trips for 20 routes seem a little bit too little. No fleet add at all! Just more downroutes..... 71/20 = 3+ trips more per service.
966 seriously needs more trips, especially during AM Peak.
Originally posted by chickenlittle2:Service 241 is missed out from the list!
241 only introduce 241A. In essense its not a trip addition but only a trip reallocation. The total no of trips should more or less remain the same.
145A also. Going by your logic shouldnt I say 145 is missed out from the list?

24 goes to SBST, the other 47 to SMRT.
858 getting bendy? O_O

Good question!
it will be nice if 858 get bendy. XD
Am I smelling more ADD purchases to come?
Seriously mentioned probably for next Qtr, Svs 5, 30/ 143, 34, 39, 52/ 154, 66, 139, 159/ 159A, 171, 176/ 177, 925, 961, 963, 980.
I dunno wat to say for Upp East Coast/ Marine Parade corridor.
double deck buses will be used on services 9, 27, 45, 53, 131, 145, 163, 166, 183, 198 instead of single deck ones from tomorrow
From LianHe ZaoBao about SMRT is that SMRT will put in additional 9 buses with additional 47 bus trips for the 10 selected svcs: 67, 75, 180, 184, 187, 188, 190, 858, 911, 960.
I suppose SMRT is planning to put bendy on 858 to downroute from the Airport Blvd bus stop just after Terminal 2?
**For the SMRT train frequenies, spokesperson said due to safety reasons and measures, there will be no improvement; no shorter than 2 mins frequency is allowed.

Seems like svcs 27 and 53 will have DD downroute from the same bus stop as mentioned in my above post for 858.
