Advantages:
* Provides direct connection to people living along st 21, 24 to MRT
* Current route is redundant and does not provide unique reason for existence unlike 334, 335. Moreover long route via Toh Guan, IMM deters Jurong East Ave people to take 333 and rather opt for 98/99/334. Direct connection to homes on st 21, 24 will make this service more useful.

Reverse route from Kovan
When Downtown Line stage 2 opens, I hope the Government can introduce the hub-and-spoke system to the Bukit Timah areas – where people take DTL to Bukit Timah and transfer to bus to get to their destination in Bukit Timah. (it is faster to travel on MRT and transfer to bus, than to travel 100% on bus) This may reduce the number of buses on the roads of Bukit Timah and may help to reduce traffic congestion in Bukit Timah, especially along Clementi Road where Ngee Ann Poly. and SIM University are.
On a separate note, I would like to suggest a route which would provide direct bus connection to Ngee Ann Polytechnic from Jurong West.
Re-route 185 to exit PIE at Upper Bukit Timah Road. From Upper Bukit Timah Road, through Jalan Jurong Kechil and Jalan Anak Bukit, it goes along Clementi Road and back to its current road at Commonwealth Avenue West. Skipping Clementi Avenue 6 and the western section of Commonwealth Avenue West.
Skipped section: 3.84km
New section: 6.31km
Something along that line…
This may help to reduce the human congestion at the bus stop at Clementi MRT Station and make it easier for students of Ngee Ann Poly. and SIM University to go to and from their school and house.
Con: this may add on to the heavy traffic at Clementi Road. So, if this were to take effect, the government should introduce measures such as bus lanes, etc.

Nice. But it goes around 945 and 947's looping points...
Feeder sv for sembawang. It is basically just the conversion of sv 859 to something like the green/white plate of sbs transit.
http://goo.gl/maps/AzrSs
I prefer 859 to stay, at least got connection to Chong Pang Market and the neighbourhood itself
From what I see on OneMap.sg - Bus Route Explorer, it seems that in Bukit Batok, there is totally no feeder service in Bukit Batok East and there may be weak bus connection in the Bukit Gombak section. Also, there are new BTO flats in Bukit Batok East. Hence, if there are new feeder bus services in Bukit Batok, Bukit Batok East is likely to be the first to get it.
Nonetheless, Bukit Batok East is well served by basic bus services, despite having no feeder bus services.
There's already route 177 providing direct bus connection (within 3 bus stops) to HDB areas around Bukit Batok East CC. Those staying in HDB areas around the swimming pool already have direct bus connections (within 3 bus stops) to the MRT station. Meanwhile, those staying in HDB areas along Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 already have direct bus connection (within 3 bus stops) to the MRT station.
I guess the only section of Bukit Batok East that does not have direct bus connection (within 3 bus stops) to Bukit Batok MRT station are those staying in the blk290-293 range - which are BTO flats.
As I've mentioned yesterday at Future Bus Services?, LTA should avoid Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 and use alternative roads for this new bus route, since this road is already packed and traffic congestions are frequent during peak hours.
Therefore, I would prefer that the new feeder bus route ply the minor roads, with little or no bus routes.
This is how I think the new feeder bus route for Bukit Batok East would be like:

There should be a proper definition to distinct 'Feeder', 'Trunk' and 'Marathon' bus routes. As in, there should be specific lengths prescribed for every category.
Because "ban"-ing 'Marathon' bus routes does not mean "ban"-ing bus routes that "duplicate" the MRT.
well, I know the length of 'Feeder' is in the range of 1.7km(eg. 284) to around 15.4km(eg. 240). 'Trunk' should be around 20/30km(eg.98/99). 'Marathon' should be beyond 30km(eg. 30)...
Anyway, there should be a proper definition to define 'Feeder', 'Trunk' and 'Marathon'.
Otherwise, it is quite hard to plan long-distance bus routes, while preventing it from being a 'Marathon' bus route.

Didn't Jurong Interchange get replaced by Boon Lay Interchange in 1990 or something? Or do you mean Jurong East Bus Interchange?
cannot classify it under marathon as i shorten the route and 2nd option is 198 merge with27?

This is a new trunk route which loops at Bukit Gombak.
First, it complements route 945 and provides bus connection to Bukit Gombak MRT Station for residents staying near Dazhong Primary School - there is currently no bus connection to the MRT station.
Second, it provides inter-town bus connection between Jurong West and Bukit Batok - as passengers of Jurong West can commute on their individual feeder bus and transfer to this new trunk service at bus stops along Jurong West Avenue 2/4, while those staying around Jurong West Avenue 2/4 can simply take this new trunk service from their doorstep.
SBS Transit should operate service on this route, with buses originating from Soon Lee Bus Depot and Bukit Batok Bus Depot (injecting into service from Bukit Batok West Avenue 2, via Bukit Batok Central, BB Avenue 1. BB East Avenue 6 and BB Street 23).
