And still we have a LTA that is living in the past and refuses to intro express long routes like HK...
And still we will have train systems that are four cara long and yet expected to serve a quarter of the population...
Sorry for being so sore about this but this is what comes to mind everytime SG compares to HK

I dont mind what youre labelling me and of course yes,HK is slightly bigger than Sg with over 7.1m population and i have been there for numerous of time but again their culture is different from us..They are more discipline than us until those China tourists/PRs tarnished their image..

stop comparing with HK all the time. They are different cities altogether. HK is much larger that warrants even more express services. The dynamics are different. You make it sound like SG public transport is shit. It is awesome. There can be improvements and that's what we discuss here. Don't be little the public infrastructure.

This I know... I'm a PR there and I used to stay in TKO with an abundance of express... 796C to MK, Cheung Sha Wan, 796X to TKW, Hung Hom, then 296D to TST, and also 296A/796S to KT if I wanna take bus for fun...
Walk further down and I get 98D, 4 min headway str8 to TST...
And their fares? Less than S$2... Affordable by many of SGreans, esp those driving cars now...
Yah lah, I know some scumbags will come and say "then move to HK lah", ppl like you are the reason why improvement and development is hampered, coz u all reject reality and shun ideas that could have been valuable...
And yes, SGreans ARE willing to pay a bit more for express... To these ppl out there, you are born with a fucking pair of eyes, you go and see, and tell me everyday, just how many ppl take all the Express svc... 506 shows you how even those not entering CBD can become hotcakes...
So given this context, I rly feel LTA needs to do some revamp to their bus system... Maybe afer gov recontract when everything stabilise, then easier for LTA to adjust... Coz if by 2030 everything still like this I tell u the MRT alone definitly couldnt cope with 6.9m, esp CCL...
It's no longer true tt only HK ppl appreciates the value of time and willing to pay more for express... It's time for LTA to wake up on their idea, and tell us more about the bus framework in 2030, just as they have done for MRT... Scrapping the S&L model is the entrance to a brighter path ahead...
That is why i said "I dont give a hoot of what you all will say"Thats my piece of mind..I always think ahead of what is lies for me,Save the hassle and trouble and you wanna insists using vulgar word suchs as fuck then go ahead..I didnt lose any cent here. For you its your own thinking mine is my own.Everyone is entitled with their own opinion here,No need to be so hot headed inside this forum..
The thing about Singapore is that we are not like Johor Bahru or Hong Kong.
The 20-km bus routes at Singapore take around one hour to complete.
The 20-km bus routes at Johor Bahru and Hong Kong take around thirty minutes to complete.
Yes, I agree we need bus routes to complement the MRT.
I guess the limitation is on the travel time.
If an express bus route is very long (more than 30km) and travel time is around thirty minutes from one end to the other, I think we can consider it. :)

Hong Kong has been hedging a few bets on rail as well. Think about the South Island Line and MTR's order for 93 "C151A/C151B" trains.
LTA justified having shorter trains and plaform on these grounds:
So they are admitting that they are running out of land to build new MRT lines and depots, and yet decided to go ahead with 6.9 million anyway?
Higher frequency trains are sufficient? Obviously the spokesperson hasn't taken the Circle MRT Line from Bishan to Serangoon during peak hour.

- Hi _________, we have limited land space in Singapore, and having longer 6 cabin trains means that more land will have to go towards the building longer, bigger stations, as well as supporting infrastructure such as stabling facilities and depots. We really have to be efficient and clever in how we use our limited land resource. That’s also why we work closely with other Govt agencies when we plan and build our rail lines, making sure it serves future housing estates and employment sectors.
You might have already heard that we’re in the process of doubling our rail network to 360km in 2030. This means that Singapore’s rail network density will be comparable to cities like London, New York City and Tokyo. More households will be served directly by rail networks, and commuters can hop on to different train lines to get to their destinations.
Having ‘shorter trains’, but a denser rail network, at a higher frequency (our Signal upgrading project!) will help keep our world moving, and leave everyone with more space to work, play and live.So they are admitting that they are running out of land to build new MRT lines and depots, and yet decided to go ahead with 6.9 million anyway?

South Island line is okay as population of South HK Island isnt large to begin with... As compared to the entire HK population
But comparing population of the entire East Shore and entire Thomson area to the SG population, and they STILL had the audacity to use four car trains...
And "higher freq" is nothing but an excus to get away with the problems... Coz no matter how many trains you buy if you cant sustain or, worse still, wont sustain thr dense freq the trains are gonna end up sleeping in the depots anyway... This could clearly be seen on the CCL...
I also dk what they were thinking when they were doing white paper... Clearly there isnt a strong coordination between the ministries, LTA included...
I could not imagine the Bishan stn in the coming years... It is as if population is directly propotional to number of trains, with k being the constant... Meaning that the crowds today are not gonna be allevated, if not worse...
Actually, there is not much difference in the dimension of stations.
It's all around 160m long.
The day will come where a major MRT station is so overcrowded due to the short platforms it has to be frequently closed on "safety grounds" (read: prevent a stampede).
Londoners are already facing this problem on a regular basis: http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/sep/21/tube-overcrowding-london-train-lines

So they say they need to be clever in using our limited land resource. So instead of using some land temporarily to build MRT with longer trains, they choose to make more people unable to board the trains and end up driving instead, utilizing even more land resource... What a joke!
The whole of Punggol Int is gg under the 2nd bus package... Hmmm, can they exclude 136 instead... AMK Depot is nearer to Loyang Depot IMO.
I actually like the design of Toa Payoh ITH,You got end berths,Sawtooth and ample parking spaces although there is more than should be service.159 and 163 should loop there to free up parking spaces consider the movement of the feeder services.
I got a feeling that in 3 years time,Clementi will fall under Ulu Pandan package and those 4 Clementi svc under Tower Transit will be handed over to the package and replace by another J/East or new service.Svc like 105 & 506 might come under this package too alongside some Buona Vista/Ghim Moh and Kent Ridge service.

Hi mr SBS 9256X, you are partially wrong. Sbs 50 is not included in the 2nd bus package. Cheers.

Svc 50 is more to Bishan side,For Pasir Ris svc 5 and 21 also not included nevermind svc 58 & 88.I think for Changi Village they should include svc 29.Can make svc 29 start from CV and loop at Tampines instead.

Oops.. I forgot about Svc 50. But then most of the service.
I've been wondering, what will happen to the PIS on SMRT buses...
Hopefully LTA will install them on other SBST buses...
I will be damn pissed if the new operator doesn't make use of them...
About the new livery...
I believe the new GCM livery may be already hinted from those Better Ride LTA posters... someone mentioned before, white front half and orange rear half, which has been seen on graciousness posters and in the LTA FB videos. And also the Off-Peak Pass BSEP ad follows that colour.
What do you think?
Regarding Loyang Depot
Commissioning of signalised traffic lights at junction of Pasir Ris Drive 2/Loyang Way and Loyang Drive/Loyang Way

This one?
I wouldn't read too much into it.
Lol I’m just not sure, cos LTA media has been using that livery (such as those joyful ride, please move in) with those animated characters like Stand Up Stacey and Move In Martin.
