yes all vocations training phrase in AFS is stay in, however ur course do not start straight away..its normally at least 1-2 weeks after u enter AFS, there's airman orientation program, and usually some time wasting period etc..
like my case, i entered AFS last year dec 26th, but my main stay in course only started on the 28th Jan..
wah..so 1 week all stay out ah?
so can bring your own CV bag and stuff on the first week until they issue you with AF items?

Yea I am most likely going there as in a staff job.
As stellazio said, it's just a training school. Nothing much, really.

Is a D7 in o level english still qualify as a pilot?
Academically, you should have a Degree, Diploma or a full GCE 'A' Level Certificate; with passes in English, Maths and Physical Science at 'O' level.

Hi I got called up by RSAF today asking me to go down for a computerised test tmr. As I have asked them if it is the compass test, they replied no. So now I have some questions regarding tmr's test.
1. I'm a girl, will my chance of being a pilot slim? I'm 1.65m with perfect eyesight and holding a degree from NUS.
2. What is the test going to be about since it is not the compass test? They told me the coming up test will be the compass test but not the one I'm going tmr.
3. What attire should I wear and do I need to bring any qualifications or documents, they did not mention anything about it.
Thanks guys.

Wait for the pilot trainees to answer your question. Sry I didn't go for the pilot selection test cos I am not a pilot trainee =p
Just had my compass today. Anyone else did theirs today?

Anshinkan29, sorry this could be a little late. but to your first question, you stand an equal chance as the guys. Clear your compass and interview and get in to OCS after BMT before they will take you.
Oh ic, then may I know what is the IPPT standard for service women? We have to pass BMT before we can get in to OCS? And are we required to swim for basic training? I can't swim for nuts By the way, thanks for the reply.

Try looking at the following thread:

Blitztonic there says he got the standards from AOH 2007 so it should still be valid till today.Only thing I'm not sure of is as to what is the standard for silver/gold female ,combat/service voc cause as a regular, you got to achieve at least a silver in order not to impede your career advancement.
Yes,you have to pass bmt before you can go OCS.Swimming wise,I think they will give you lessons since you can't swim.
Look at the following thread for more on your concerns regarding swimming:
Just got notified to go for compass on 11th, hmm, may I ask what can I do to improve or ace my test? Getting quite worried since the test is 5hrs and heard its really demanding. =(
Ok before I answer Anshinkan's question, I'll introduce a litle about me.
I'm in poly year 3, Aerospace Technology. I passed COMPASS Test, PES A, interview on Friday the 13th (What a date lol).
For COMPASS Test, just gotta keep your mind focused on the task at hand. Keep your mind calm and dont panic.
The parts where you have to maintain the vertical and horizontal lines in the middle, dont let your mind wander. You gotta make sure you wont confuse your orientations.
There was this part about getting points by tapping the 4 different coloured buttons to get points in 4 lanes. Can anyone confirm whether it's tapping or holding on the button? I was the noisiest during my test and I thought I might have done it wrongly. =D
hmm. can anyone enlighten me how do i go about registering for a compass test? i'm gonna graduate and get my diploma in a few mths time.
i couldn't find the link or application form. ended up registering for the career one.
do i have to call cmpb? or can anyone navigate me to the site. ;D
