I've been trying to find out the below informations. This is what I was told by friends. So would like to check if its truly the case.
Say if i'm 20 this year, can sign on officer path and take Saf scholarship.
21yo I will commission as 2LTA
22yo - LTA
23yo to 26yo University, (direct entry into 2nd year Honours in NTU / NUS )
27yo - CPT 1 (4k-5k) read on mindef website.
CPT 2 ( anyone can advise on roughly which year and pay for cpt 2 )
31 - Major 1 ( 6k-7k ) 10years to hit major 1*
Sequently promoted to Major 2 and henta kaki.
Is all these info more or less correct ? considering if I promote as per normal and nothing go wrong along the way ( not high flyer ) And also, what is the retirement age for officer scheme ? I'm planning to sign on after my SAF scholarship ( Lms ) end after 6 years from the day i graduate from uni.
Anyone with experience can guide me ? sincerely need some help here.
Skipping first year of uni is very unlikely, you will miss too much.
Farmer's highest rank is SLTC just before retirement (scholars skip SLTC, go on to COL).
Because i'm from poly, graduating with merit. So they offer me into second year direct honours. Sorry just to ask, whats SLTC ? 2 crab ?

2 Crabs and a Braid
Unless you one fuck of a capable officer. Then you might have chance to get COL. I know of some of the older COL's not scholars. But your appointment usually something like Comd BMTC or something like that. But maybe you COL 3-4 years then retire liao.
If only someone can shed some light on the pay rates for scholars and farmers.

Actually, I think pay rates are the same across the board. Thing is scholars get paid when they study and their study time counts as service time so naturally they get the increment. Plus those get get commissioned before they study get promoted while abroad as well. And they do advance faster so that also contributes to their higher pay.
Not so. Scholars are on Administrative Service pay scales and several do indeed join the Administrative Service at some point.
For some reason, Mindef does not release pay rates for MAJ and above on their career website. I believe this is where the gulf widens.
Just sign on!!
It is known that the SAF salary is 1 K to 2 K more than the market rate.
Why do you talk about cpt rising to major? Do you think all farmers by default will have a chance to be major? A major is actually a manager postion in the SAF.
Farmers do have less chance of promotion. It is because they are given a "flat" stable job to deal with. Since there is no change in their work scope, their performance is flat by default. Scholars are given projects to do. If their projects turn out well, then they will be highly recognised.
Then when reach age 45 do what?

Farmers
vs. Scholars
As with many
militaries, there exists numerous rivalries such as
officer/non-officer, combat/logistics divides, Army/Navy/Air Force.
Fortunately, because the members of the SAF are thoroughly
integrated into society at large, there are no major
military/civilian issues.
Apart from such minor divisions, a more important dichotomy is
observed between officers who are polytechnic or local university
graduates (Farmers), and former scholarship
holders who studied overseas (Scholars). This
phenomenon exists because of fast-tracked careers, quick
promotions, a dual-track career in the Civil Service after
mandatory retirement offered as enticement for young men to take up
SAF scholarships. While this state of affairs has existed since the
Singapore government started giving out scholarships, the issue was
mentioned in Parliament for
the first time in a speech decrying the class-consciousness and
social stratification resulting from the existing
policies
